I'm a retired university professor, but what Boortz says here must have really set the Texas A&M faculty on fire. (Boortz graduated from Texas A&M). A long, but glorious, read.

Not sure, but ... I think Neil refers to this address as the one he wishes he could give/ could have given. If he actually delivered this speech, it would be a great thing.

Be interested to hear how his remarks were received.

I recently attended a dental school graduation where a retired four-star General and Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman was the commencement speaker.

After smelling salts were applied so I could regain consciousness after learning who was allowed to speak at a major university, I rather enjoyed his remarks...although they were largely apolitical.

The “teach-do” comment is inaccurate.

In particular, the engineering and science faculty at A&M and other schools are DOERS.

Period.

.......but I doubt that Boortz had them in mind when he spoke.

Yep - he’s never given this speech in public. It’s the one he’s always wanted to give. He plays it on his show once a year or so, around graduation time.

i like neal but i dont think this is the right forum for this type of speech. the kids are there to get a diploma and graduate, not get bopped over the head with a political message. i agree with everything hes saying but its not the place for it.

The “teach-do” comment is inaccurate.

As a retired university professor, I think so, too. However, I'm willing to cut him some slack because the essence of his message is spot-on.

Same here. I was trapped into listening to a leftie commencement talk last year. What an unpleasant experience. No reason why the right should do this either.

I'm not sure I agree with you. I can't begin to tell you how many commencement addresses I've had to sit through and most are of the "rah-rah, go get 'em" attitude and rarely give you anything to think about. This speech does.

As to whether it was given or not, I hope (and thought) it was. I did check here to make sure it wasn't a double-post, but I did not try to find it's archive. In my mind, that's not as important as its intent. Personally, I'd love to hear it given at a commencement address if for no other reason than it is thought-provoking. College students are incredibly naive and can soak things up well enough, but they are not independent thinkers. I think Boortz is simply telling them to start thinking on their own.

Conservatives and Libertarians think -- and, setting aside the theocracy crowd, their identity is centered on the individual.

When you take out the "theocracy", liberals and libertarians and conservatives all have the same goal.

That's the current state of things.

I disagree with you.

A commencement speech is the perfect opportunity to prepare them for the real world.

A good “bop on the head” may be the only thing to shake indoctrination and ignorance out of their mushy minds.

If a man is a conservative at 20 he has no heart if however at 40 he is still a liberal he has no brain

Winston Churchill

some of these people have 20 years or less to get it right and some of the faculty have not after 40 or 60 years.

"...i dont think this is the right forum for this type of speech.

What better time and place to hear the truth after 4 - 5 years of liberal indoctrination?

A speech like this could stop many a starry eyed budding liberal from throwing their lives away.

It would be to their benefit if each graduate was required to hear (and understand) it before they are sent out into the real world.

i never said anything about it being ok that kids are being brainwashed at college. i fought the ridiculous bias at college my entire college career.

what is not ok is for a commencement speaker to get up there and start preaching his politics to a graduating class that is there to get a diploma. for every conservative speaker, there are 10 liberal ones. i had the unpleasant experience of sitting through an awful wacked out liberal commencement address. its not the place for it.

Ripped from your tag line:

OSAMA BIN LADEN IS DEAD! There, I said it. Prove me wrong.

I'm digging out the hospital records as I write this, but it appears that he had extensive plastic surgery and language lessons and is now running for President as the Democrat nominee. At the moment, this is just an assertion: birth certificate and hospital records to follow...

Quotable. I’m a libertarian of Boortz’s variety (by and large, except for his anti-God and anti-psychiatry kicks).
