ABC News’ Karen Travers reports: The Republican National Committee today will unveil a web site, www.gopplatform2008.com, that will allow individuals to log on and share their suggestions and opinions on what should be included in the party’s platform. The platform will be ratified by the party’s delegates at its convention in Minneapolis in September.

For the Republican Party to win elected office they need to return to being the Party of Ronald Regan.
They need to grow a spine and stop trying to compromise with those that seek to destroy our Republic and our way of life be they insiders or outsiders......

Looks like most of the postings were in good faith. By far and away just the sorts of things said here.

The platform should include NO AMNESTY TO ILLEGAL ALIENS.

I clicked on it but as soon as I saw Senator Richard Burr as one of the elites I clicked off. FReepers will remember his conduct during the total amnesty/open borders fiasco. He passed on the vote then eventually voted the right way...but didnt like it. If the RNC/GOP wants to move forward they need to dump the empty suits.
They need to beat the Democrats over the head with this oil thing, Oil prices have doubled since the Democrats have been in control. Next beat them over the head with not allowing any debate on drilling off shore or in Alaska. Oil is what the American Public is most worried about this time, and the Democrats should be hung on this petard.

Conservatives shouldn't offer the GOP any suggestions, let them get it from the "moderates."
Did not many of the submissions seem a bit too sterile? One point with a supporting comment in prose that not too many use these days. I think they sort of ‘primed the pump’ on the suggestions. I do not mean to suggest that we should curse and accuse, but many of the entrys were far too mild to be believable.
Start drilling!
The best platform would be an oil platform!

Shrink it to a “Top 10 List” and require all elected Repubs at least at the nat’l level to sign a form declaring their unwavering support for it. Refusal to sign is equal to withdrawal from the party.
The first items should be;
A. Borders, Language, Culture;
1. IF YOU ENTER THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ILLEGALLY OR OVERSTAY YOUR VISA, YOU WILL NEVER BE ELIGIBLE TO BECOME A CITIZEN OF THE US. NO EXCEPTIONS.
2. IF YOU HIRE SOMEONE WHO IS ILLEGAL, YOU AND / OR YOUR BUSINESS WILL BE FINED $50,000.00 PER EMPLOYEE. “STRICT LIABILITY” WILL BE THE LEGAL STANDARD.
3. THE POLICY OF “ANCHOR BABIES” IS NO LONGER THE LAW. YOU ARE ONLY ELIGIBLE TO BE A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES IF YOU ARE BORN “OF” A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
4. “SANCTUARY CITIES AND / OR STATES” WILL RECEIVE NO FEDERAL TAX DOLLAR REVENUE SHARING OR MATCHING. FEDERAL HIGHWAY SPEED LIMIT STANDARDS WILL BE THE TEMPLATE.
5. “SANCTUARY HOUSES OF WORSHIP”, IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF US LAW, WILL LOSE THEIR TAX EXEMPT STATUS.
6. FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, DOING BUSINESS IN THE UNITED STATES, WILL BE PROHIBITED FROM OFFERING AND PROVIDING ANY INCENTIVE PROGRAM(S), ANY DISCOUNT LOAN(S), SUBSIDIZED CHECKING AND / OR SAVINGS ACCOUNT(S) OR ANY “SPECIAL” OFFER(S) TO ANYONE IN THIS COUNTRY ILLEGALLY.
7. PUBLIC EDUCATION, MEDICAL AND DENTAL SERVICES, HOUSING, SOCIAL SERVICES, FOOD STAMPS, SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE, SSDI AND ANY OTHER US GOVERNMENT PROGRAM WILL BE FOR THE BENEFIT OF LEGAL RESIDENTS OF THE UNITED STATES ONLY.
8. ANY PERSON(S), CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION(S), OR BUSINESS ENTITY THAT HARBORS ANY ILLEGAL ALIEN(S) WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY BE CHARGED WITH A FEDERAL OFFENSE AND LOSE THEIR CITIZENSHIP.
9. GUEST WORKER VISAS WILL BE ISSUED ON A 5 YEAR TRAILING AVERAGE OF THE AGGREAGATE NUMBER OF VISAS ISSUED WITH ADJUSTMENTS FOR PROJECTED GDP GROWTH AND / OR CONTRACTION.
10. ENGLISH WILL BE THE ONLY LANGUAGE USED IN THE PUBLIC WORKPLACE, PUBLIC EDUCATION, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OFFICES AND FACILITIES, HOSPITALS AND RELATED MEDICAL FACILITIES AND THE FEDERAL COURT SYSTEM. ALL VOTING FOR FEDERAL OFFICES WILL BE DONE IN ENGLISH ONLY.
B. Support alternative fuels, in the meantime...Drill Here, Drill Now, Save America.
C. National Security
D. Abortion; Except for very few exceptions, outlaw it.

My Idea of Comprehensive Immigration Reform:
1. Illegal aliens are to be detained upon detection and deported within twenty-four hours.
2. Any citizen knowingly employing, sheltering, concealing, or otherwise assisting (other than emergency medical care) an illegal alien shall suffer forfeiture of all property, real and personal, all assets, businesses, business licenses, and any other thing except his/her physical freedom and two changes of clothing; after which he/she may seek employment and start over.
3. Any non-citizen legally resident, acting as described in para 2 above, shall suffer the same penalty and be deported to his/her country of origin within 48 hours.
4. Any public official, in any branch of government, at any level, who under color of clemency, legal discretion, or other official privilege, shall obstruct, alter, or modify the swift application and extent of paras 1-3 above to any degree soever, shall suffer the same penalty and be summarily removed from office.
(That’s to keep judges from saying “ooooo, that’s too harsh” and governors etc. from handing out pardons to business-owner buddies.)
