Barack Obama’s comment that Americans should teach their children Spanish rather than worry about whether immigrants speak English gave another example of his arrogance and elitist impulses earlier this week. In a memorable moment, he pronounced himself “embarrassed” by Americans who travel abroad and can’t speak the local language — which called into question why he doesn’t get similarly perturbed by foreigners who move here and can’t speak ours. Today, Obama tried to “clarify” his comments by wondering aloud why people found them offensive:
“This is an example of some of the problems we get into when somebody attacks you for saying the truth, which is we should want children with more knowledge. We should want our children to have more skills. There’s nothing wrong with that! It’s a good thing,” he said.
While the Obama campaign says that Obama speaks a little bit of Indonesian, Obama himself admits that he isn’t bilingual.
“I know because I don’t speak a foreign language. It’s embarrassing!” he said.
So now Barack Obama has managed the impossible — he’s thrown himself under his own bus!

Good point, and more of an issue since these "visitors" plan to stay here and avail themselves illegally to our social services. Seems to me if your here illegally and plan to steal from me for the foreseeable future, at least have the decency to rob me while speaking my own language.

What this is really an example of, Barack, is a person, YOU, who doesn’t have a lick of common sense. Just because something you said sounded good to you doesn’t mean it made the least bit of sense.
Americans learn other languages when they have a real need to learn them, or when it might be a degree requirement (and they promptly forget what they learned if it isn’t used). But no one but some PC suck-up would suggest that American citizens should learn foreign languages to communicate with illegal invaders who speak another language.
We need a president who will emphasize the need for all immigrants who move to the US to learn English to communicate with American citizens and institutions, and not some suck-up who suggests the opposite.
You can figure that out, but the geniuses at RNC are doing online platform surveys.

Obambi is the perfect liberal: he’s pretty much English-only yet he can curl his lip and sneer at his fellow Americans for not being bi-lingual...... and of course libs all sneer at President Bush, whose modest Spanish is still a lot more than Obambi can boast of. btw, I don’t believe for a moment that Obambi knows much Indonesian from when he was 10 years old. There’s no indication that he’s used it much since then, and people do not remain proficient in a language after 36 years without some pretty significant practice.
Let’s demand he take immediate tests in both languages, since he’s making the bid deal of the matter, and see what his level of (in)competence really is.

Obama may be a lightweight, but so far McCain is running a featherweight campaign. And Obama is avoiding those town hall meetings. At this point, I’d say the odds favor the “assclown.”

I’m traveling to Europe in the fall, visiting Ireland, Scotland, the Czech Republic & Italy. Am I supposed to learn ALL the native languages? (I’m actually trying to learn a little Italian, although I’m not being very disciplined about it.)

I have a friend who is learning Mandarin Chinese because his company promised him a SIX FIGURE RAISE if he did.

Speaking Chinese is where it’s at. To use Spanish as he did in the example just makes me think we’ll be one step closer to the Amero.
Most Nobel Prize winners speak English. Modern research is published in English, because THOSE are the countries in “LEADERSHIP” positions in this area - research, discovery, science, and entrepreneurship. Learn English, and you will be able to read breaking research, and understand scientific & technological breakthroughs, thanks to free market democracies.
O’Bama can’t simply be proud of free nations, can’t be proud of the fact that WE LEAD, and that — learning English is critical to progressing globally, no matter where you live.

Obama, as a U.S. Senator traveled to Kenya in 2006 to illegally campaign in the Kenyan National Presidential Election for his cousin Odinga, a Muslim who appears to be an Extewmist who demanded Shia law and whose followers allegedly burned hundreds of Christian Churchs killing many of the Congreants. The MSM should be demanded to follow up and fully investigate for the Truth!
