Fueling VP speculation, Obama heading to Iraq with Hagel, Reed
CNN ^ | July 11, 2008 | Ed Henry

Sen. Barack Obama is heading to Iraq later this month with two Senate colleagues, Republican Chuck Hagel and Democrat Jack Reed, according to two sources familiar with the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee's plans.

The sources said the official Congressional delegation trip, known as a CODEL, will occur around the time Obama heads overseas for a previously-announced campaign trip to France, Germany, Great Britain, Israel, and Jordan to help beef up his foreign policy credentials. Officials are keeping the precise dates of Obama's trip under wraps, however, for obvious security reasons.

The inclusion of Hagel on the official portion of the trip is guaranteed to further fuel speculation that Obama might pick a Republican as a running mate on a presidential ticket aimed at winning over independents. Hagel, who privately discusses foreign policy matters with both Obama and Republican presumptive presidential nominee John McCain, has publicly left the door open to a possible bipartisan ticket.

I'd prefer toast.

Somebody needs to convince Obama he can make Nebraska or Nevada competitive by picking one of these two ass-hats. Forget RI's Reed, he needs Nevada's Dingy Harry Reid!

Gosh, if he picks Hagel, I'm sure he will swing a lot of Republican votes.

Hagel at least is pro-life. There is no way pro-abortion lobby (which has the Democratic Party by the leash) would allow such a selection.

Hard to convince him on Nevada with polls like this June 16 one: A new Mason-Dixon poll for the Las Vegas Review Journal finds a dead heat in Nevada. (BHO 44 - MDL 42)

http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/06/nevada_poll_mccain_42_obama_44.php The link I saw first.

I see that is in error now... but it is still close/competitive, so my point is valid.

These lowlifes have no business going over to see the same troops they constantly undermine and stab in the back. I sincerely hope our troops show these douche-bags the small amount of respect they deserve. If I was over there I would refuse to let one of these weasels use me for a political photo shoot.

If it can be determined in time that Hussein’s birth certificate is false and that he is foreign born, then his passport would be false because he would have lied on it. He would then be prohibited form reentering the country!

It’ll be: “I have talked to the generals. There is a consensus of opinion. It would not be wise to discuss it at this time.”
