By Leah HopeCHICAGO (WLS) -- Proponents of gun rights gathered in the Loop Friday to push legislation legalizing concealed weapons in Illinois. Among the speakers at the rally was a Texas state representative whose parents were among 23 people gunned down at Luby's cafeteria in 1991. Recent rallies at the Thompson Center have been demands for gun control laws following fatal shootings of Chicago children. Thursday, the plaza was full again, but the message was from those demanding the right to bear arms.

What judge has this case, Mayor Daley is the ring leader of the anti-gun . He brings half of the Chicago police Dept to lobby for gun bans and other restrictions every session in Springfield. I'm concerned that the City of Chicago that has deprived their citizens of basic right of self defense for 26 years and Daley has been Mayor for nearly 20 years and the judge is removing alegations before evidence has been presented..

You would think the rally would be for gun right all over Chicago, not in the loop alone. Oh never mind, just a poorly written headline ;)

Regardless of whether Chitown’s gun bans are tossed out, if Daley says No Guns, it’ll be No Guns - for law-abiding citizens, that is. Outlaws and aldermen - but I repeat myself - will be exempt.
I was at that rally. It was nice having it in the Belly of the Beast, i.e. Chicago. Dr. Huff’s speech was very good (it was a very moving moment when she said that she would gladly choose to be a felon in prison today if that would have allowed her parents — killed in the Luby’s shooting in 1991 — to know their grandchildren, referring to the fact that concealed carry was not legal in Texas in 1991: She had to leave her gun in her car where it was useless when the madman started shooting up the restauarant, and in retrospect she implied she wishes she had broken the law and had her gun on her so she could have done something to stop the carnage). The crowd was pretty diverse as to ages and ethnic backgrounds, which was good to see (gun rights is not a white male issue as the MSM would have everyone believe). The size of the crowd was limited due to the physical space available: It was held on the corner of LaSalle and Randolph in front of the Thompson Center, and there just is not a lot of room there for any sizeable crowd. What I really liked about the location, however, is that it is right across the street from City Hall and King Richard II’s office.
The crowd was very respectful and very responsive to the message. However, with the rabidly anti-gun government in Illinois, from the governor to the attorney general to the House Speaker all the way down to the lowliest pol on the payroll it won’t do any good in regards to CCW in Illinois: Illinois politicians WANT the citizens to be victims, as that is what keeps them (the politicians) in power.
Yes, I agree. It is because of the free cheese eating city of chicago that Illinois is a blue state. Without this group of cheese eating rats, Illinois is a red state all the way. All areas of Illinois except Chicago, east st. louis and areas of Rockford and Moline are conservative. Much like states like New York, Wisconsin, and Michigan to name a few. Without these free cheese eating big cities, this is mostly a conservative nation. It’s a pity that the votes of cities that take up such a little space in their perspective states geographical maps, dominate the voice of the entire state. I’m from Illinois and we are conservatives in my town, and we constantly get it stuck to us by the state legislature to bail out the free cheese eaters of Chicago. I’m sick of it. They want to call us a blue state, but they always need the rest of the state which is red to bale their sorry liberal asses out!! This rant is officially over!!
Since when did we start demanding rights? Rights are assumed and acted upon without permission or negotiation. Ask the founders.
