STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT
Laura and I are deeply saddened by the death of our dear friend, Tony Snow. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Jill, and their children, Kendall, Robbie, and Kristi. The Snow family has lost a beloved husband and father. And America has lost a devoted public servant and a man of character.
Tony was one of our Nations finest writers and commentators. He earned a loyal following with incisive radio and television broadcasts. He was a gifted speechwriter who served in my fathers Administration. And I was thrilled when he agreed to return to the White House to serve as my Press Secretary. It was a joy to watch Tony at the podium each day. He brought wit, grace, and a great love of country to his work. His colleagues will cherish memories of his energetic personality and relentless good humor.
All of us here at the White House will miss Tony, as will the millions of Americans he inspired with his brave struggle against cancer. One of the things that sustained Tony Snow was his faith and Laura and I join people across our country in praying that this good man has now found comfort in the arms of his creator.
So true, Mr. President. So true.
R.I.P. Mr Snow we will miss you.
We lost another good guy. RIP Tony Snow.
Amen. Thank you President Bush - for these kind and true words. And thank you, Tony Snow, for your life well lived and your faith in God.
May the Holy Spirit comfort and strengthen your beloved wife and children and go with them holding them close, guiding and protecting them, all the days of their lives.
America has lost another great one.
Sad, sad day.
God speed Tony.
Prayers to his family and close friends. He was an awesome man and an inspiration.
Prayers for his family. What a loss.
You said it !
We also lost a beloved FReeper FRiend. Tony Snow was active here from the early days and continued until he became WH Press Secretary. He just recently reinstated his membership.

Centers for Children and Families' "An Evening With ..." fund raiser this year features as its celebrity presenter former White House Press Secretary Tony Snow. The 7th annual event will be on Tuesday, August 5 at the Midland County Horseshoe.
Snow served the George W. Bush Administration from May 2006 to September 2007. In addition to his position as press secretary in the George W. Bush White House, he served as Director of Speechwriting and as Deputy Assistant to the President for Media Affairs for President George H.W. Bush in 1991.
He has spent a quarter of a century in the news business. Hes worked in all three major media print, radio and television. Hes best known for his seven year stint as the host of FOX News Sunday and is currently a conservative commentator for CNN.
Snow was born in Berea, Ky., and was raised in Cincinnati where his father taught social studies and was an assistant principal. His mother was a nurse who died of colon cancer when he was 17. Snow obtained his BA in Philosophy from Davidson College. He taught physics and geography in Kenya and also worked as an advocate for the mentally ill and developmentally disabled in North Carolina.
In February 2005 Snow was diagnosed with colon cancer. He has successfully fought the disease twice and is now on the national speakers circuit and is a guest on television and FOX News. Tony is an avid musician and is married with one son, two daughters, three dogs, a cat and three guinea pigs.
Very sad.Our prayers to his family.Way too young.
I enjoyed reading his earlier posts.
Do you think they can be brought back?
These were very heartfelt and eloquent words spoken by the President.
I don’t know. That is a question for Jim and John Robinson.
There are not many public figures for whom I would shed a tear. But I do for Tony Snow. He was just so nice. Just damn. My sympathies to his family.
I was stunned this morning when I heard the news...I knew he was ill ..very sad. Tony was a good man who lived his faith and he will truly be missed.
Rip Tony Snow
My condolences to his family and friends.
It’s almost like The Lord knew his heart couldn’t take what is going to happen in November

I couldnt agree more about Schwarzenegers attitude. Wonderful! Faith is everything, friends, through good or ill...
Thanks so much for your kind thoughts regarding my latest unpleasantness. As often happens, reports of my imminent demise are greatly exaggerated. Ive been fighting a bowel obstruction for the last month, and wont travel until we get it fixed. Hence, the speech cancellations.
Weve embarked on a pretty aggressive course of treatment, and Im on the mend. As for cancer, all the signs are good: Treatments are working, and genetic tests indicate that a new course of treatment has a good chance of real success.
So thanks, as always, for the thoughts and prayers and continue sharing them with each other for others in need (like Jim Rob). I cant tell you what a source of strength and reassurance you are.

May God comfort his family during this sorrowful time.
I am so sorry and grieving over this. Tony had such an infectious grin that even those who disageed with him had to like him.
Well, he can move on to be the Heavenly Press Secretary to Ronaldus Magnus.
God Speed, Tony.
I don’t watch the news anymore and I just got back from a 2 week vacation. This is the first I heard that Tony Snow died. I am shocked and saddened. I thought they had his cancer under control. When did he pass away?
OK I see it was today. How terribly sad! He will be greatly missed. God is taking the good ones out of this world.
Thanks for the link, but I was referring to the ones he had here before he went to work for President Bush.
Those were pulled for Tony’s sake.
Sad news to wake up too, huh?
After reading his last post from 6 weeks ago, I was allowing myself to believe he might beat this.
Thank you Mr. President, and Thank you Lord for the life of Tony Snow, dedicated to love of country.
Can't really improve on this posted prayer, so I will repeat it.
May the Holy Spirit comfort and strengthen your beloved wife and children and go with them holding them close, guiding and protecting them, all the days of their lives.
