US election: Barack Obama will chase John F Kennedy's mantle when he comes to Europe

The European leg of Barack Obama's overseas tour is a deliberate effort to wrap himelf in the mantle of John F.Kennedy, widely regarded as one of the most inspirational American presidents in history.
The Democrat candidate has picked Germany, the country where the Iraq war most strained relations with America, for what is billed as a major address on transatlantic relations.
That choice is also deliberately reminiscent of Kennedy's address in West Berlin during one of the bleakest periods of the Cold War in 1963, when he declared "Ich bin ein Berliner" - I am a Berliner.
The Democratic nominee has long been compared to both JFK and his brother Bobby in the US, where supporters say his message of hope echoes the days of Kennedy's "Camelot" administration.
His wife, Michelle, is routinely compared to Jackie Kennedy; John Kennedy's daughter Caroline is helping to select Mr Obama's running mate.
But his desire to speak in shadow of the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin's most potent monument, is so loaded with symbolism that it has run into controversy. Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, has expressed doubts that he should speak there because it may seem tantamount to endorsing his candidacy - and she is also friendly with the Republican candidate, John McCain.

His wife, Michelle, is routinely compared to Jackie Kennedy Yeah, it's easy to compare and point out how the classless America-hating Michelle is nothing at all like Jackie Kennedy.

The problem is that JFK had a much better resume when he ran for president and he actually believed that America was a good and decent nation. Also, JFK fought commies while Obambi pursues them and calls them friends.

Oh he'll memorize some German to recite when the cameras are rolling — and it will make Chrissy Matthew's bottom pucker on live television.

This isn’t 1960. I don’t think the “Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country” thing would play well with the morons who would vote for BO.

JFK was just as crooked as the Dims of today, or any Dims. He knew there was no missile gap at the same time he was beating Nixon over the head about it.

"Obama didn't do anything for German unification," Mr Huber said. "That's not a criticism, but as a result there is no reason to grant him such a privilege," he told the Welt am Sonntag newspaper.

Obama hasn't do ANYTHING for anyone.
Here's what he did for his old neighborhood

Here's what he did as a "representative"
Hundreds of government-subsidized apartments in Sen. Barack Obamas former Illinois state Senate district that were built or rehabilitated by a half dozen of his close political friends and donors are now in such bad condition they will have to be demolished, The Boston Globe reports. This raises a big question for the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee: Is this the kind of change he plans to bring to the White House?

Born in America - Ja wohl! Good point. I hope he is fluent in German, after all I don't want him embarrassing me with his ignorance of languages. ;)
Smedley64, I really think Obama is delusional. He creeps me out.

Obama is no John Kennedy. Obama is a Kenyan/Aerican, inexperienced and mixed up in body and in soul.

"Michelle Obama is being compared to Jackie Kennedy.." . Oh, yeah. I can see the resemblance! .

Jackie wouldn't have paused to spit on Michelle. Not that she was much more than a female Jean Kerrie herself.

Here I corrected the headline.

To: FFranco
I didn’t say that the man was a saint. The fact of the matter is that he was still, with all of his shortcomings, a better man than Obambi. When a recession started early in his term, JFK lowered corporate tax rates. When was the last time that Pelosi, Reid, or any of the usual gang of idiots even considered lowering taxes on small business and large corporations?

JFK's mantle was chasing women. My first thought also, in fact I heard stories about JFK that would make J. Jackson say "Hooooly Mackeral there Andy!"
