Muslim woman denied citizenship over views (France)

PARIS, July 12 (UPI) -- France has refused to grant citizenship to a Moroccan woman because of her conservative interpretation of Islam, papers show.

Officials said the woman's religious beliefs are incompatible with French values, The Daily Telegraph reported Saturday.

The unnamed 32-year-old woman is married to a French national. She arrived in the country in 2000. Her three children were born in France, the newspaper reported.

Social service reports say they woman wears a black burqa that covers all her body except her eyes and lives in "total submission" to her husband and male relatives.

"She has adopted a radical practice of her religion, incompatible with essential values of the French community, particularly the principle of equality of the sexes," said a ruling by the Council of State, which hears immigration appeals.

The woman's application for French nationality was first rejected in 2005 on grounds of "insufficient assimilation." She appealed to the Council of State, which last month affirmed the decision.

The French showed more nerve than I expected here. Good for them.

Just when you think that the French are a bunch of surrender monkeys, they surprise you with this. Bravo!

Very interesting. Now if only they could do something about the unassimilated native-born population ...

All Western countries should adopt this policy.

Something bothers me about this. They deny citizenship to a woman purely on her view that women should be submissive to men? Apparently she’s never advocated violence of any kind, and it would appear her only “sin” per se is being clueless.

I’d be curious to know if any men who believe the same (that women should be subservient) have been denied citizenship... or if any of the young thugs setting cars on fire in the streets have had citizenship stripped of them or evicted from the country.

Something appears to be missing from the story. What drew the attention of social services in the first place? Was she not taking care of her children? Abusing them (other than teaching them her religion, that is).

You can’t be serious right?

So when Christians are prevented from being Citizens in this country because they don’t believe in homosexuality will you say the same thing?

Muslim = terrorist today.

Tomorrow Christian = emotional terrorist.

There are a great many American sects, notably the FLDS, but also including some quite mainstream ones, that require as much female submissiveness as this lady has agreed to. Many of their women are fiercely in favor of such submission. And you can make an excellent case that the Bible prescribes it.

FTM, there's a whole subculture of women who "submit" even more enthusiastically than this lady, although for slightly different reasons. France is, after all, the home of the Story of O.

I wonder if O is eligible for citizenship?

A little surfing will show that there appear to be more women out there who want to be dominated than men interested in the dominating. Can these women be citizens?

LOL. A woman denied something because she feels she is inferior.

Good for France.

I think France has finally realized that they have a muslim problem.
I'm afraid it's too little too late.

If the French army still has guns it’s not too late.

France is, or was, a Catholic nation. Islam is an invasive religion seeking to subjugate the Franks (actually the term they use for all Europeans)and immigration, birthrates, and violence (remember the minor jihads in the French suburbs).

You might as well argue against US law which prevent open communists from becomming citizens. It is a liberal, and suicidally stupid position.

“conservative interpretation of Islam, papers show.”

“She has adopted a radical practice of her religion”

So WHICH is it? Someone is lying calling it “conservative” or “radical”. Can’t have it BOTH ways.

WHAT IS ISLAM???

France is particular about those people who don’t want to speak French. Perhaps that was her crime.

More misinformation from UPI I see...it was over her ACTIONS, not her believes. Of course her actions are based upon her beliefs...but it wasn't for her belief in radical islam that she is encountering problems but for her action of wearing a full body burqa...which obscures ID...and if terrorists didn't hide in burqas maybe it wouldn't be such an issue...but they have...blame the islamic terrorists.

All I’m saying is that we have freedom of religion in this country.. if you make an except for Islam(which of course would mean changing our consitution) then it easily could come back to bite us later.

I obviously believe that France has a right to take on anyone they so choose into their country.. but they lost themselves a long time ago with their huge Muslim population that will never “assimilate” to their values.
