Inhofe: EPA too powerful, could damage economy
tulsa world via drudge ^ | 7/12/2008 | Jim Myers

While others criticized the Bush administration's inaction on greenhouse gases, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe warned Friday that it has put in place a scenario that will bankrupt the U.S. economy.

A key player in the years-long debate over climate change, the Oklahoma Republican agreed that using the Clean Air Act to put new regulations in place would be an unprecedented expansion of the Environmental Protection Agency's authority that would impact every household.

"Obviously the concept of regulating carbon dioxide under the Clean Air Act is flawed and the act must be amended by Congress," Inhofe said.

"Today's notice should concern all lawmakers; no one should want the EPA to exercise the kind of power and authority that the career staff at EPA contemplates."

Last month, he said, the Senate rejected a "cap-and-trade" proposal that would allow companies to buy or sell allowances depending on their level of pollution.

"It is ironic that the EPA has proposed an even more economically destructive scheme this close to that bill's demise," Inhofe said...

Almost EVERY socialist-leaning Government ‘program’ ruins the economy to some extent by confiscating hard-earned tax dollars from their rightful owners, who COULD be using said dollars to re-invest in our economy through new businesses and new hires used to PRODUCE something or provide a service to their fellow citizens.

It ain’t Rocket Science, but I sure wish more Americans would realize this. Grrrrrr!

Because I chose to live in a society and earn a living, they can have a few of my tax dollars for Military Defense and National Security. Locally, they can use my tax dollars for trash pick up, clean water, filling in potholes in the road and my Library, Cops & Firemen.

Otherwise, those dollars belong to ME! I earned them; the Government steals them.

Inhoff’s the man. True-grit conservatism. Which is why McCain will overlook him as VP even though it would greatly enhance his chances in Nov. -Wb

from the article:
“A key player in the years-long debate over climate change, the Oklahoma Republican agreed that using the Clean Air Act to put new regulations in place would be an unprecedented expansion of the Environmental Protection Agency’s authority that would impact every household.”

Indeed.
Imagine an EPA with the dictatorial power to regulate the country at large, as the California Air Resources Board _ALREAY_ has with which to dictate to the residents of that state.

This will be a _certainty_ if Obama gains office.

Is McCain _really_ that bad of an alternative?

The same can be said for the entire federal government.

EPA would be a good place to start cutting back!

Senator Inhofe BTTT

>>>”Today’s notice should concern all lawmakers; no one should want the EPA to exercise the kind of power and authority that the career staff at EPA contemplates.” <<<

The DANGEROUS powers the senator is referring to:

Environmental Emergency Powers:

Excerpt:

the Administrator, upon receipt of evidence that a pollution source or combination of sources (including moving sources) is presenting an imminent and substantial endangerment to public health or welfare, or the environment, may bring suit on behalf of the United States in the appropriate United States district court to immediately restrain any person causing or contributing to the alleged pollution to stop the emission of air pollutants causing or contributing to such pollution or to take such other action as may be necessary.

James Inhofe, one of about half a dozen in the Senate who is sane and apparently not interested in selling out the country for his own advantage. A pity we can’t clone him.

Is McCain _really_ that bad of an alternative?

Depending on whom he selects as a VEEP, yes. Here's why...

1. Obama attempts to do major damage to the country as he pursues a Marxist/socialist agenda.

2. The GOP rallies in opposition and, holding more than 40 Senate seats, is able to block the worst excesses while calling attention to them.

3. The average American is appalled. Someone with a brain (okay this is a stretch) emerges in the GOP who figures out how to nationalize the election (aka Newt before he drifted leftward).

4. The GOP comes close to retaking the House in mid-terms and makes major gains in the Senate.

5. A conservative, such as Duncan Hunter or Fred Thompson ascends to the GOP nomination, wins in a landslide, carries the House and Senate with him, and after 24 years of conservative wilderness, resumes the Reagan Revolution.

McCain wins and...

1. Liberal policies fly left and left.

2. the GOP is unable to rally opposition because McCain peels off the RINOs and strong arms the rest.

3. The GOP gets the blame for stupid policies enacted with McCain's support.

4. The U.S. slides further towards socialism.

5. The media blames the GOP for all problems and the public accepts it.

6. The GOP becomes a permanent minority, suffering major loses at mid-terms.

7. Hillary is swept into office by a landside.

8. Big Brother changes the spelling to Amerika.
