Schwarzenegger: I'd be Obama energy czar By MIKE ALLEN | 7/13/08 10:23 AM EST

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said in an interview aired Sunday that he would be open to the idea of serving as energy czar in a Barack Obama administration.

Regardless of whether he takes that particular job, Schwarzenegger, a Republican, added on ABC’s “This Week” that he’s now committed to continuing public service even after he leaves Sacramento.

Schwarzenegger endorsed John McCain at the end of January, and McCain has appeared with “the Governator” to praise his efforts to deal with climate change.

A Schwarzenegger appointment would add even more star power to a hypothetical Obama administration, and would allow Obama to make an appointment from across the aisle that would not upset his core supporters.

When George Stephanopoulous asked Schwarzenegger about the idea on “This Week,” the governor replied that he doesn’t "think about taking on a national role.”

Why is it that so many "Republicans" that get the press, including our President and putative nominee for President, so continuously try to out democrat the Democrats? It's so frustrating it nearly makes you (me?) pull for a clean sweep by Democrats this November so we can rebuild the Party with real Republicans.

It's only a passing feeling. I'm Secretary at my BPOU, so will work through to the election. It's just hard to get enthusiastic these days.

The Head TWirPinator was on with George Goofynopoulus.

THis gaseous windbag is all about reaching across the aisle, crossing the center line, he as much admits he had to lie to get elected as a Republican in California and get indy and em votes, and then once elected, grabbed hold of a long-time dem issue, the environment, and sees no problem with doing so.

No agenda there, well, not a conservative one, obviously.

I hope he does end up in an Obama administration if Obama wins. It would get him the hell out of California . There is much more damage for him to do here,, until he signs off on raising taxes later this summer.

Let Obama feed the Trojan Horse , California can’t afford him.

He can’t. Cabinet secretaries are in the succession for the presidency if all the other top administation officials die in some catastrophe. Arnold cannot serve as president as he was born in Austria.

Hmmm, not sure where to go with this one.

First of all, Arnold is a pretty bright fellow. He may be using his power for some things we don't agree with right now, but that doesn't make him a dummy.

Secondly, you are comparing him to other secretaries, not other Einsteins :-)

He’d be a great energy czar. Remember the Jerkinator “Hydrogen Highway?” This genius supported a proposal that is not even technically feasible yet. His idea for solving the energy crisis is to just wait for that Star Trek engine that gets 125 miles on a single cup of air. Its right around the corner, don’t you know. He’d make a great energy czar for Obama, since they both buy into the same nonsense. In the meantime, we will all have to eat rice and beans. I guess that’s how the Hydrogen Highway will be fueled, if y’all get my drift.

Since it seems like he has given up on getting anything of real importance thru the Calif. legislature, and the shellacking he took a few years ago in the propositions - the only thing left where he can do anything - for good or ill - is environmental issues. Too bad.

I feel as useless as an Illinois Republican. Wait! I AM an Illinois Republican! Why can't we replace Little Dick Turban? Because of a failure of leadership and a blend of the two parties known in Springfield as "The Combine" - an organization that simply protects all who are there rather than getting the work done for the citizens of Illinois. This is the same party that gave us the Alan Keyes circus when Barry walked away in a cakewalk.

I’d rather he prove himself disastrous in Hollywood than in Sacramento or DC. Whether or not he is good in a movie only matters to those who buy a ticket or have an investment of some kind in the industry. All of us have an interest in what happens in the government of CA or God forbid he gets there...DC.

His hypocrisy doesn't end there. I read a report that he wanted to buy a private jet, but he didn't want to pay the state sales tax, so instead, he bought the whole company that owned the jet to avoid the sales tax.

The taxinator thinks taxes are for only for us little people.
