The number of people who have died while trying to cross the border illegally in the San Diego area has more than doubled in the past year.
During the 2007 federal fiscal year from Oct. 1, 2006, to Sept. 30, 2007 11 migrants died in the San Diego sector, Border Patrol Agent Mark Endicott said.
This fiscal year, 22 immigrants have died between Oct. 1, 2007, and June 30, Endicott said. That number excludes the bodies of four people found last week in the backcountry. They are suspected of being illegal border-crossers, which would push the death toll this year to 26. While authorities investigate the latest deaths, a volunteer group that works to find lost immigrants is in the midst of another search. Desert Angels is looking for Martín Zamudio Torres, 39, from Santa Maria in Central California.
Zamudio, a Michoacan native who had lived in the United States for 20 years, was deported in May. As far as anyone knows, he crossed illegally over the mountains May 20.
He's been missing for almost two months, his wife, Silvia Escobar, 40, said in a phone interview.
Escobar, who works at a restaurant, said her husband was the main wage earner in the family, which includes five children ages 6 to 18.
I hope they find him, said Escobar, a native of Mexico City. We're about to lose our house.
Endicott said the high temperatures during summer in East County's mountainous and desert terrain are formidable and can result in heat stroke and dehydration.
He said the four bodies found this week were male, but the cause of death has not been determined.
A body that appeared to be of a man in his 20s was found Monday on a road two miles north of state Route 94 and a mile east of Harris Ranch Road in Potrero.
Over the next two days, three more bodies were found along county Route S-2, close to Imperial County in Carrizo Gorge.
The Border Patrol has rescued 64 people through June 30 in the San Diego sector, which covers 66 miles along the border, compared with 93 rescues last fiscal year, Endicott said.
I’m sorry these people died, but I’m wondering when the media and the US gubmint will correctly hold MEXICO responsible for its’ fleeing citizens?
Not, I hope they find him, because I'm concerned for his well being.
Rest easy,senora...I'm sure that the wolves found him weeks ago.
You are concerned for his well-being?
How nice. How Democratic of you. Your feelings are just what apologists for illegal entrants love. The Sob Story.
“The number of people who have died while trying to cross the border illegally in the San Diego area has more than doubled in the past year.”
Making a mad dash for AMNESTY!!
And, IMO, if the number dying has doubled, that means double the number of people trying to get in and double the number succeeding.
“people are also aware that the illegal alien population in the United States ranges between 12,000,000 (McCain and Obama) and 38,000,000 (James H. Walsh, J.D., a former Associate General Counsel of the Immigration & naturalization Service (INS), believes that as many as 38 million illegal aliens are living in the U.S. as of Oct. 2007”

(from Evertsen/Midwest Minutemen)
My guess....it’s closer to 50 million
Not wolves, coyotes. Of one kind or another.
I think he/she meant that escobar hoped they found him because they were afraid of losing the house and not that escobar hoped they found him because they were concerned for his well being.
At least that’s the way I read it.
Go back and read it again....
As much as I hate illegal immigration, which we would control our borders and control who we LET in this nation, not just who SNEAKS in, the human cost still gets to me. I’m sorry for these desperate people. I can’t imagine what it feels like to have the will and desire to crawl over broken glass for a job.
I admire these people for that will and that desire. If our lazy-ass bums on welfare had one ounce of their desire, we wouldn’t need illegal workers. I wish we could trade off our welfare queens and welfare bums for folks like these who risk their very lives just to get a job. I’ll even give you two for one.
Obviously they wanted to dance but could not pay the fiddler.
I got the below from another thread here today. It’s 1-2 years old, as you see. So if double the people are crossing over now, this means the stats would be FAR WORSE TODAY.
The Heritage Foundation ^ | 10/25/06 | Robert Rector
The National Academy of Sciences has estimated that each immigrant without a high school degree will cost U.S. taxpayers, on average, $89,000 over the course of his or her lifetime. This is a net cost above the value of any taxes the immigrant will pay and does not include the cost of educating the immigrants children, which U.S. taxpayers would also heavily subsidize. In this way, the roughly six million legal immigrants without a high school diploma will impose a net cost of around a half-trillion dollars on U.S. taxpayers over their lifetimes

Anyone who breaks the law and dies doing so is responsible for their own fate. They do not get my pity.
I reserve my feelings for the tens of thousands who have been forced to crowd into the one remaining emergency room in East San Diego County, a result of the closing of another due to losing millions each year treating ILLEGALS.
I reserve my feelings for the countless families who have suffered from depressed wages and/or lost jobs, a direct result of the unfettered invasion from the south.
I reserve my feelings for the millions of taxpayers who are forced, through liberal policies to support the lifestyles, medical care and education of the countless hordes who break our laws to get here so they can exploit our system.
I have no pity for these lawbreakers or any who chooses to risk their lives by breaking the law.
My only pity for illegal crossers would be for the children of these criminals who became victims of their parents' unlawful behavior.
Scary when you consider RINOs like McCain and Bush want them here.
La Raza: U.S. Evil, we want same kind of Government these people are dying to run away from.
Allie Allie Oxen Free!
This leaves his plans for the first 100 days right on track.
Some people sure love the smell of treason in the morning.
I like the smell of justice. That’s why I don’t frequent Washington, D.C., any more than I do.
Each of the governors in these states should be recalled, on the issue of illegal immigration. It may not be their job, but demanding Washington do it’s job is their job.
These governors are screwing the citizens of their states big-time. They should be tossed out on their heads.
I will never again vote for a person who respects the citizen of a foreign nation more they do the citizens of ours.
You want my vote, you tell me how many days it will take you to get our border under control and start deporting 5,000 illegals per day.
The guy with the lower number gets my vote!
Exactly! Explain to me again how this is a BAD thing???
“No woman is ever illegal.” —Hillary, campaigning in Nevada this year
—PP
And 22 out of the million that came in this year is no deterrent. Mine the borders and see if it wakes anyone up.
Why wouldn’t they increase?
More people are trying to get here and have a chair when the amnesty music stops.
Telling people that you are going to reward them for breaking the law is just not a good policy!
Damn these treasonous politicians and their crooked business allies.
STOP TALKING ABOUT TONY REZKO LIKE THAT!
You might be sorry they died, but I could not care less that they died. They rolled the dice and took their chances. I have the best way for them to stay alive... STAY HOME.
I certainly don’t WISH them to die, but I don;t feel sorry for their deaths because it was their own choice to take the chance.
They died as a result of their own choices made in full knowledge of what might happen. They got what their choices gave them.
There is no need to feel sorry for them.
After viewing the crime stats, I think we would all agree enough is enough!!
there’s a downside I’m not seeing isn’t there?
Formulaic leftist diatribe.

You know how to read.
That was posted to me, the author of it completely missed my point.
I know it was posted for you but I wanted to comment on it.
