Syria warns against incalculable Iran strike

PARIS (Reuters) - Syrian President Bashar al-Assad warned on Monday that an assault on Iran over its controversial nuclear programme would have grave consequences for the United States, Israel and the world.

"It will cost the United States and the planet dear," Assad said in an interview with France Inter radio. "Israel will pay directly the price of this war. Iran has said so."

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a senior official not to interfere in the nuclear dispute with the West, in what analysts see as a sign of internal concern that the president's hardline tactics are further isolating his country.

Speculation about a strike against Iran's nuclear facilities mounted following a report that the Israeli air force rehearsed for such an attack. The United States has refused to rule out military action if diplomacy fails to stop Iran's atomic enrichment.

Assad warned this would set of an uncontrollable chain reaction in the Middle East "over years or even decades". Logic was against it, he said, but the Administration of President George W. Bush was locked in a "warmonger doctrine".

Yeah, well, that's how it is when your psychopathic enemies are wiring nukes together.

Logic would have us reduce Iran’s military capacity and change its regime, after which Syria would sue for peace, and Iraq would be far more secure.

Let’s see who is declaring that an attack on Iran would be a disaster of the highest magnitude and lead to a world conflagration
- The UN
- Mohameed al Baredi
- Syria
- Iran itself

When you see such huffing-and-puffing, especially from such un-credible sources, the opposite is usually true.

OK just for the record. One of the biggest lies that is repeated over and over is that radical Islam is not a bunch of renegades acting on their own. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The countries that fund radical Islam are

Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. We need overthrow these countries if we really want terrorism to go away once and for.

The doctrine of Israel and the U.S. is to keep nukes as far away from Islamics as possible. A rational doctrine, to understate the matter.

You could be correct,Mr President....but as bloodied as Israel or the US might be after the fight we'll still be able to say....

If we did go against Iran, I would agree if we did it only from the air and not rebuild their country. These people have to realize what happens if they piss us off.

Yeah, probably just as serious as Israel’s strike on Syria’s nuke plant was. Remember that? It was met with silence.

Right.

Exactly what Bush et al SHOULD have done after the initial invasion - FINISH the job. Put the NAIL in their coffin.

But Bush Jr. like Bush Senior seems to have a "strategry" gap.

The only way to deal with these nitwits is through the use of immediate, overpowering force, followed by withdrawal afterwards. THEIR having to deal with the catastrophic consequences of their aggression without any outside help should be part of the punishment.

The Muslim-Arab world only appreciates force and power.

I believe we heard the same arguments prior to the Kuwait liberation war and again prior to the invasion of Iraq - almost word for word.
