The special police unit charged with protecting Norwegian officials has been holding "security chats" with government ministers lately. At least two top politicians have been victims of assault just in the past six months. Per Sandberg of the Progress Party was assaulted last winter.
It was right here, on the street called Torggata near the Police Directorate, that Norway's justice minister was assaulted in broad daylight.

Newspaper Aftenposten revealed over the weekend that even Norway's justice minister, Knut Storberget of the Labour Party, has been the victim of a recent assault.
Storberget was accosted on an Oslo sidewalk, in the middle of the day, while out walking with an aide on a lunch-time errand. Ironically enough, the attack occurred just a few meters from the entrance to the city's downtown police station, and offices of the Police Directorate.
The assault initially went unreported, but Aftenposten wrote on Saturday that Storberget was suddenly confronted by a man who called out his name, and then hit the justice minister so hard that he fell to the pavement. His attacker then kicked Storberget in the leg.
Storberget's aide, political adviser Eirik Øwre Thorshaug, attempted to intervene but the attacker ran off.
Police have since confirmed that the attacker is the same man who assaulted a top official for the Progress Party last winter, Per Sandberg, just outside the Norwegian Parliament building. That attack also came in the middle of the day, and Sandberg was kicked as well.
The suspect is now in custody and undergoing psychiatrict evaluation to see whether he's capable of standing trial. He has a police record for earlier episodes of violence.
The attack on Sandberg was initially viewed as random in nature, but the attack on Storberget has prompted a reevaluation, since Storberget seemed to be identified as a political target. Sandberg and Storberget represent vastly different political viewpoints, making the motivation for the attacks unclear.
The police unit in charge of officials' security, PST, won't talk in detail about precautions taken around Norwegian politicians, who long have mingled freely in public with a minimum of visible security around them. A PST spokesman said there's been no reason to consider any key politicians as being under threat, and PST chief Jørn Holme believes "it's important to our democracy" that politicians aren't fenced in.
"To a large degree, any threats come from mentally unstable persons," Holme said. Newspaper Aftenposten reported that several cabinet ministers have been called in for "chats" with PST officials, to cooperate on individual security measures.
Storberget, meanwhile, didn't want to comment on the assault on him beyond writing in an e-mail that "I hope things are going better" for the man who attacked him. The suspect is originally from Iran, has had psychological problems and was granted residence permission in Norway on a humanitarian basis.
I think that once the Euro-weenies have had enough [who knows when that might be], they will revert to their ancient barbaric selves and start killing on a massive scale.
Keep kissing up to the Muslims and this is the thanks you get.
I absolutely agree. I think it will be Sweden where the Europeans "snap". They may be all Bikini teams and socialists on the outside, but on the inside the Vikings still dwell.
You describing Muzzies in FRANCE?????
That is precisely why I think it will be Sweden. Denmark and Norway are letting off pressure, but Sweden is just swallowing it and holding it in.
When they snap, it will be bad and I believe it will consume their Nation.
