Here are their statements about President Bush's decision to lift the presidential ban on offshore oil drilling.
U.S. Rep. Ron Klein: I am extremely disappointed in the Presidents decision to lift the Executive Ban on offshore oil drilling..... (snip) U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz: The price at the pump is hurting many families in this country today, but drilling on the coast is not the answer.... (snip) U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler: Offshore drilling is nothing more than a snake oil solution peddled by President Bush and Senator McCain for political gain....

but drilling on the coast is not the answer... Neither is ANWR, nor coal, nor nuclear energy nor anything which would actually add to the supply of energy.
The earth should only support the half billion of people or so that it did prior to the industrial revolution. We should all move into caves, starting with the imbeciles who can say nothing but no to anything which might extend our supply of energy.

insanity and liberal democrats seem to be close relatives.
as a matter of fact, a tendency be a complete scu&bag is a genetic part of being a self-appointed intellectual genius of a democrat. (no...make that low-life scu&bags...mmm maybe swine would be better....or maybe a description not as tame or charitable as scu&bag or swine...)

Pelosi, won’t allow a vote on the Columbia free trade agreement and this idiot Reid won’t allow drilling amendments.
I think the democrats have sabotaged the Bush Administration. They have done nothing in the almost four years they’ve had control.
McCain needs to make this THE ISSUE. Bring it to a head. He’ll get all of us behind him.
That imbecile Warner wants to lower the speed limit? Let’s raise the f—in speed limit.....
I’m not going to let this congress or any other politician dictate what kind of car I drive.

I just called my two Senators and my Congressman and told them I want drilling off our coasts and in ANWR, and that the Dem policy of inaction is not acceptable.
Folks, take a few minutes—make the calls—unless they feel the heat, like on amnesty—they are going to keep playing games in DC.
They need to be reminded who is in charge.
Just do it.

If we can’t drill our way out of this, then let’s just stop pumping what we have drilled. Sheesh.
Those SOBs in congress don’t have a problem with filling up their SUVs with even $10.00 gas, thanks to the money they make because they are in congress. Not the pay, the “other” money they make. It’s the rest of us who are getting squeezed. Liberal politics, pure and simple.

Not one of these comments by them makes any sense or has any real life bearing on anything.

Oil shale, tar sands, coal and nuclear? Not worth thinking about if we just drill for oil.
How about infrastructure like roads and pipelines? Pipes. Don't need pipes. The rigs will supply garden hose to fill up the cars. And I won't tank up with the offshore rigs."

Unite in voice, email, letters and raise HELL with the Dems in support of President Bush. Just like we all raised HELL over Immigration Reform. We defeated them on that one, we can defeat the Dems on their oil embargo. Turn the tables on them.
When prices were somewhat affordable we all slept on the energy policy matter without a clue. President Bush had no backing as we all had bought the Environmental bill of goods. Today we as a Nation haven’t any energy policy plus we’re faced with renegade hippies in Congress with one of their own. A policy of profit many of them seem to be invested in. Wind, Solar, and magic technology that hasn’t happened yet. We differed to idiots because it wasn’t necessary to apply brainwork at the time.
Today we pay the price of our slumber. We’ve been shocked awake. It’s time to grab a two by four and shock them upside their collective heads to get energy policy, get to drilling, get the prices down so we can get this country rolling strongly enough to blast our way through the current ecomonic dilemmas they have caused, and into a clearer future.
We need to write, email, telephone, courier Pigeon Congress in support of President Bush now that he knows we the people are behind him in demanding we drill for oil. We need to back him up, and back them down.

I emailed both Wexler and Klein and here's the reply from Wexler (BARF ALERT):
July 15, 2008
Dear Mrs. XXX:
Thank you for contacting my office regarding the rising price of gasoline. I appreciate your concern on this important issue, which is quickly reaching crisis proportions -- impacting every family in South Florida and across the nation. I welcome the opportunity to respond to your concerns.
The shameful reality is that our countrys actions and inactions have contributed to this problem. The Bush Administration has allowed our country's reliance on petroleum products to translate into record profits for Big Oil. And, for years, the Republican-controlled Congress refused to raise fuel efficiency standards -- known as Corporate Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards -- or make much-needed investments in alternative energy technologies.
Congress must now focus on improving the short-term problem including easing the impact of volatile spikes in gas prices while also working to put our country in a better long-term position for energy independence.
America currently relies on fossil fuels for 85 percent of its energy needs, according to Spencer Abraham, former Secretary of the Department of Energy. Rising gas prices happen as a result of the increase in global demand surpassing the supply (e.g., China has gone from consuming 2 million barrels of oil in 1986 to nearly 8 million barrels today). A decrease in supply has also been attributed to the lack of refinery production. Maintenance and construction costs for new refineries are estimated to be in the billions, as a result of the reluctance on behalf of Big Oil companies to make the investment needed to continue oil production. Finally, the war in Iraq, which had been the world's 2nd largest reservoir of crude oil, has caused a decrease in production as well as creating uncertainty in the global markets.
The combination of these factors that have produced higher gas prices that now threaten the ability of most Americans to afford their commute to work, pay for basic commodities, and maintain a comfortable standard of living. Our dependency on foreign oil has also lessened our security as a nation.
While much of the rhetoric on Capitol Hill revolves around the need to drill for more oil domestically, it is a fact that doing so will not decrease gas prices. I agree, however, that we should explore resources available on federal land already leased to oil companies for production. There are currently 68 million acres of federal land and offshore waters leases for oil and gas companies to use for production. Only about 13 million acres of these public lands, however, are currently being used to produce oil and gas. Furthermore, only 10.5 million of the 44 million acres of federal offshore leased acres are being used by oil and gas companies.
Rather than opening up areas of the Outer Continental Shelf off of the coast of Florida or the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska, Big Oil should be using the leases already available to extract more crude oil. Doing so would increase their production by 4.8 million barrels of oil per day, cutting total oil imports by 1/3 -- or 6 times the amount that is estimated to be available in ANWR.
Reforms must be comprehensive and include policies that foster the increased exploration, development and use of alternative, sustainable energy sources. The only way out of our national addiction to oil is to invest in renewable (such as solar, wind, ocean, biofuels, geothermal) energy sources, conservation, creating and retrofitting more energy efficient homes and buildings (which consume 40% of our nation's energy), and improving our national vehicle fuel economy standards in the private and government sectors.
I am proud to be a cosponsor of several bills aimed at cutting costs for consumers, investing in domestic renewable energy, while remaining conscious to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions for protection and preservation of our environment as well as to create new "green" jobs. I believe that Congress has a responsibility to support environmentally responsible, long-term energy policies that truly address the growing economic and national security concerns of the American people.
Thank you again for taking the time to write. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have or anytime I may be of assistance to you. If you would like to be updated on these and other issues, please stop by my website (www.wexler.house.gov) and sign up for my electronic newsletter. I hope you will find these tools to be valuable resources in keeping up with events in Washington and South Florida.
With warm regards,
Robert Wexler Member of Congress
I am working on answering him. If anyone wants to try this, email him too, I bet you will get the same reply, he probably has a template done for these kind of questions.
