Barack Obama's Struggle Over Whether Marriage Had Become 'An Outdated Institution'
A new detail about the courtship of Michelle Obama:
It took two years for Obama to finally propose. Though she knew he didn't fear commitment, Michelle had become a bit irritated with his struggle over whether marriage had become an outdated institution.
Wow. And with this offhand comment, a thousand new excuses are born. "Honey, it's not that I fear commitment. It's that I'm struggling over whether marriage has become an outdated institution."
I recall from that other Obama profile in the New Yorker, this one on Michelle:
Barack had a more bohemian attitude toward romance. We would have this running debate throughout our relationship about whether marriage was necessary, Obama told me. It was sort of a bone of contention, because I was, like, Look, buddy, Im not one of these wholl just hang out forever. You know, thats just not who I am. He was, likeshe broke into a wishy-washy voice Marriage, it doesnt mean anything, its really how you feel. And I was, like, Yeah, right.
Richard Starr asks, "Wasn't it a little, um, outdated, to be doubting the institution of marriage in the early 1990s?"
Why do I get the feeling that many, many wives in this country will read the above paragraphs and nod in familiarity?
According to this pair, patriotism is also outdated.
Why pay for a cow, when the milk is free?
This could do some serious damage to Obama’s female support in particular if it was played the right way. Unfortunately, McCain is limping into this fight...
MORE PROOF, HIS MOM WASNT MARRIED SO WHY SHOULD HE.
I wonder if B.O. would say that taking the oath of office for the presidency is “outdated.” After all, “It’s how you feel,” isn’t it? So, if you feel like handing this country over to the communists, you should be able to do it, shouldn’t you?
A tad off topic, but Obama seems to feel the same way about Christianity. I saw him on David Gregory’s program today (I know, I shouldn’t be watching that), but anyway, they discussed Obama’s “faith”. The libs totally glossed over his affiliation w/Rev. Wright; instead, they spoke about how he feels he is saved through his belief in Jesus Christ, yet his that his mother, an unbeliever, would also SOMEHOW escape eternal damnation. Some sort of generic faith principle was evoked to explain that away.
Pat Buchanan straightened things out BIG time, citing John 14:6 VERBATIM! (I am the way,the truth and the life; no man comes to the Father but by Me.) Then he reminded everyone of Obama’s attendance at the Black Liberation Theology church for 20 years, and stated that evangelicals could see right through his liberal faith and that he probably shouldn’t count on them for votes! Buchanan rules! (today he did, anyway).
This sort of thing will only further endear him to the “Progressive” Left.
Michelle has a BIG mouth, and keeps causing trouble. I DO NOT want her in the White House.
Poppa was a rolling stone...
...Just what is it with Liberal women anyway? Why do they HAVE to run EVERYTHING?!?! It's almost as if being a First Lady is some sort of put down to these harridans.
If Hussein had to explain the orientation of his own ass, he couldn't find it with both hands and a mirror.
Oh, I beg your pardon, Mrs. Obama--I meant to type "water buffalo," but my fingers slipped!
The Obama train wreck is going to be better than a trip to an amusement park.
Awwwww....the one, two, three....nineteen words every woman wants to hear. What a lady's man.
Of course I jest. But it's still more sentimental than "kiss it".
seems his mom & pop might might not have ever married.
