ALBUQUERQUE - For those of you keeping track of who Republican presidential candidate John McCain might pick as his vice presidential running mate, consider this: McCain told a fundraising event in Albuquerque that he and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, whom McCain defeated in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, have become good friends.
It was only a few months ago when the two were at each others throats in the often-acrimonious campaign.
Mitt and Ann Romney and Cindy and I have become good friends, McCain said in describing how he feels the Republican Party is united now for the battle against Barack Obama for the Nov. 4 election.

Goody. ;)
JM knows as much about uniting the Republican party as he does about the internet.
Evening!
In Washington, “my good friend” means little.
McCain and Romney’s pocket book maybe.
Duncan Hunter is the only plausible Vice pick, the rest of the also rans are the biggest bunch of losers I have seen in a Republican primary.
And yes, I include West Hollywood Freddy in that list.
There, fixed it.
Once after McCain shot a Vietnamese solider he said “Oh excuse me my friend”.
We need someone who brings energy to the ticket. We all love Reagan for his policies but he also had a stage presence and that sells to a good portion of the electorate. Papa Bush lost to Clinton IMO because he didn’t have any energy and seemed like he had so-so interest in winning while Clinton had what it takes to sell.
Most non-affiliated people get a sense not of issues but a feeling of who can do more for them. That’s all Obama has but it’s working.

I humbly submit...The governess of Alaska.
“West Hollywood” Fred Thompson?
Know something the rest of us do not?
Are you claiming Mrs. Thompson is a “beard”?
Are they going to get a room ?
No, just jealous to be honest.
I myself didn't realize “West Hollywood” was the gay area until I was visiting a (female) college friend who lived in the area and got a bit lost. I needed gas anyway so I stopped for gas and asked the guy behind the counter....
“Where is West Hollywood?”
He acted all guilty and stammered out “I don't know!”
I thought that was weird but as i walked out to my car I saw a macho guy in a muscle shirt and a muscle car and asked him....
“How do I get to West Hollywood?”
It was FLAME ON! He swished on over and told me exactly how to go there, pointing as he put his hand on my arm.
I felt like saying “Just because your giving me directions doesn’t mean you get to cop a feel.” But was too busy laughing inside because I had just figured out why the guy behind the counter acted all weird and remembered my friend telling me she lived in the “gay area”.
Romney cannot be the VP candidate. It would cancel out the religious advantage over Obama. Yes, it’s sad, but very true.
Hilarious story!
In my vagabond days I roadtripped out west to visit my aunt and newborn cousin in Irvine. Took the opportunity to see the sights (Universal Studios tour, Laguna beach, MickeyLand etc.). Went up to see Christmas parade in Hollywood and was trecking over to Santa Monica pier—if you don’t take the freeway—it’s one heck of a sight-seeing tour...
No matter who McCain does truly pick to be his final VP choice, there will be some who will like his pick and others who will not. McCain is trying to please both conservative voters and everybody else at the same time, and it seems that Mitt Romney comes the closest to being the most acceptable to the most voters. IMHO, Sarah Palin may be an even better VP choice who will be the most acceptable to the most voters, and I don’t see anybody else in this category other than both Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin. Both the Governor of Louisiana and the Governor of Minnesota don’t quite cut it for the VP spot for different reasons, even though I do like Jindal. I would pick Mike Pence, but too many people wouldn’t know who he is as well as many non-conservatives will see Pence as being too conservative.
John McCain. Mitt Romney. Reuters.
The mind boggles.
If reality was selling for a million dollars an ounce, this bunch couldn’t raise the price of a cup of coffee.
Ain’t that the truth.
Yeah, what a great country.
I mean just look at the all of the fine people we have to choose from come election day.
A choice between the great Sarah Palin(?)and the Kolobite, oh Happy Day!!.
Close though.
I’m not a fan of Mitt Romney either for a finite number of legitimate reasons (tops being that Mitt is a “fake conservative”), but, like it or not, he’s getting a lot of support from many conservatives and from many non-conservatives at the same time, and Mitt has a lot of money to spend on behalf of McCain. Mitt can also help many “blue states” to seriously and successfully support McCain over Obama, with a lot of effort. For most people, Mitt’s pluses to McCain’s Presidential run truly outnumber Mitt’s negatives to McCain’s Presidential run. I would truly prefer it if McCain picked Mike Pence to be his final VP choice.
I'm sure.
You're really bright.
