Britain: Nanny State Descends into Police State

MORE British Insanity
Mother Needs Criminal Record Check Before Accompanying Epileptic Son to School

Great Britain

The Brits are entering the terminal stages of The Nanny State. While their streets are awash in criminals, the schools failing, the Health Care system on the respirator, and Islam on the verge of being the new royalty, the Brits have redoubled their efforts to make life more difficult for British families.

From the Daily Mail. (How do they find this stuff? Hotline?)

"Mother stopped from travelling with son in taxi to school - because she hasn't had a criminal record check"

Yep. In Britain a mother must have a criminal background check to accompany her child in a taxi to school.

And not just any child: an epileptic boy who could die without the assistance of his mother--and he would. British law prohibits the cab driver from assisting with the administration of medicine. From the story:

Accompanying her son to school is no routine family chore for Jayne Jones - it is a matter of life or death.

For 14-year-old Alex is severely epileptic and only his parents know how to operate the specialist equipment to help him if he suffers a life-threatening fit.But that has not stopped Mrs Jones being barred from travelling in the taxi provided by the council to take Alex the five miles to school. Her offence? Not to have had a Criminal Records Bureau check.

It is gone. Articles like this prove it.

Other than passive resistance and monkeywrenching, which when CORRECTLY applied, can bring a system to its knees. But once it’s down, what is to replace it? That’s the real question. The country will go to the ones with the will to have it and the means to keep it.

from the comments section of the article:

The State sees children as belonging to them, not the parents. Clearly the State is out of control in this Orwellian nightmare we call Britain.

This September I’ll be making my sixth, and probably last, trip to the UK. It is truly a sad state of affairs. Chillingly, it portends what could happen here.....very easily.

Indeed.

And the proliferation of laws and cameras at every corner are not for protecting the public from the criminals, but for protecting the government from the public.

Those in charge in Britain eagerly sacrifice their own nation to retain their trappings of power.

I don't think the sheep have the guts to do anything that requires strength and involves risk. Just this morning I heard a list of songs Brits voted as the top ten rock songs of all time. The list was sickening with names like Kiley Menogue, The Village People, Brian Adams and some other weak musicians. I was shocked at what they consider to be the best rock songs of all time.

At the 2010 General Election. Labour is going to get creamed, in part because of stuff like this...

I hope you're right. However, it seems the Tories are about as spineless as our Republicans so it may just delay the inevitable.

Sorry, but I have read through the (mostly) inane comments from Brit hating blokes who can’t add much to the debate, and satiate themselves with cheap jibes and condemnations.

Your post though, is going to take some beating. Seriously, it reaches new heights of......hmm. For one, where was this list you heard? Which radio station, TV program or otherwise? Rock songs? We in the UK have a long, long, long, long, long line of talented rockbands, going back decades. Rolling Stones anyone? The Who? The Clash? Led Zeppelin? Deep Purple? You know anything about the Download Festival and what its about?

Kylie mInogue? I dont think so. Village people? No mate. Brian Adams? Not a chance. Methink you comment was predicated on a lie, or an idiot piece of media pap that you suddenly took as gospel as it confirmed all your worst suspicions about us Evil Redcoats!

I don’t hate Britain and I didn’t create the list. It shocked me to hear that Brian Adams and Michael Jackson made the list over the bands you just mentioned. The list was broadcast on a local rock station I listen to on my way to work. I don’t recall who did the original survey.

..You don’t recall? Odd, that...

Isn’t it?!!!

Seriously, I agree with much of the sentiment on these threads, such as the gradual erosion of freedoms that UK citizens/subjects endure thanks to the current government. It was always going to head towards a police state, although we aren’t there yet. Look at whats going on in Italy (troops to again police the cities) for example, as a case far worse than the UK’s.

What was stupid was the for the guy to damn my country, on the basis of a local radio station poll. Astounding really!
