BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- If bad weather threatens the August 8 opening of Beijing's Olympic Games, then meteorologists may change the weather, according to a Chinese meteorology official.

Hmmm
Can they really do this?
And if so.. The US should have passed China a long time ago in this technology!
Well shucks, of course they can....didn’t Bush rearrange the skies so that Katrina stopped over NOLA??? LOL! I’m sure Bush sold this technology to China for mere pennies on the dollar! It’s all BUSH’s fault!! LOL!
I’ll believe it when I see it. They can copy but they can’t invent.
bttt
No country can compete with a free people.
They can copy.. but they can’t invent.
Government bullet to head: 50 yuan.
Your life: PRICELESS

Talk about your tough environment..
They are working feverishly to clear the algae on water ways intended for use in the Games..
are just imposing the most recent scheduled round of the shutting down of polluting devices and enterprises , construction and heavy industry, for a temporary period ..
I hope the birdnest stadium doesn’t desolve before the closing ceremony..
I’m waiting too. I have many friends in China that wished the central government could have pumped a little warm air into the sky. One friend’s apartment was 48degrees on the inside. They were not ready for that at all.
I hope the don’t get Ooblek! Bartholomew found that was a big mistake!
Karl Rove had to sell his weather machine somewhere when he left the government. Obama has his own Weathermen.
They should have seen this coming,, they should have dredged this whole area and nuked it with herbicides, it might actually be safer in the water tho even with all the stuff in it. What a nightmare. I look forward to travelogue and blog reports.. hack coough

Chinese soldiers remove algae from a beach near the Olympic Sailing Centre in the city of Qingdao on July 5, 2008. Foul-smelling green algae that has been plaguing China's Olympic sailing venue has been cleared, state media said Tuesday, after more than one million tonnes of the sludge was removed. If people start screwing around with the atmosphere, we’ll really get into a mess. An example of the road to hell paved with “good intentions”.
Sure. Their spies in the US just need to steal the blueprints for--and the make a copy of-- "Karl Rove's Weather Machine."
read Weather War...
If they can do this, why have they been losing land to the desert?
Hotel space for the Olympics is less than 50% booked. Three weeks to go. China will be eating this one.
Couldn’t they make some sort of biofuel out of all that algae?
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:
Not only would I NEVER consider attending these Olympics, I will not even watch one second of it on TV.
You would think so,, I hear we have technology to do so, not sure about mechanics , etc..
I hear ya. I may be forced to take up reading again. :-}
I think you and I are the only two people who ever read that book. :-(
I have four of the newest Dean Koontz novels waiting for me. Very close to getting introduced to them.
“Change We Can Believe In” and HUBRIS!
Global warming - where have you been, under a rock?
What about earthquakes, hmmmm?
Sea salad!
As Charles Dudley Warner said (and Mark Twain did not), “Everyone talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.”
“I think you and I are the only two people who ever read that book. :-(”
But it was my favorite os the Doc’s books!
It’s called cloud seeding. The U.S. and other countries use it too. It can be used for either forcing rain or breaking up rain and thunder clouds etc.

I hope God steps in and shows China he is still in control.
