Arrest warrant issued for woman whose bogus tip allegedly triggered FLDS raid
The Salt Lake Tribune ^ | July 15, 2008

Posted on 07/15/2008 6:31:43 PM PDT by Saundra Duffy

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Colorado woman alleged to have sparked the raid on the polygamous FLDS ranch in Texas with bogus tips may be on the run.

On Monday, an arrest warrant was issued for Rozita Swinton after she failed to show up for a court hearing on charges of violating her probation for one of two other false-reporting cases against her, court administrator Lori McKager told Salt Lake City's 2News.

Swinton is accused of violating her probation stemming from her 2007 guilty plea for telling police she was a 16-year-old girl who was suicidal after giving birth.

Authorities have linked her to a phone number used to call a Texas crisis center thought to have triggered an April raid where more than 460 children were removed from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' Yearning for Zion ranch in Eldorado, Texas.

Swinton, 33, faces jail time if found guilty of violating probation.

“for telling police she was a 16-year-old girl who was suicidal after giving birth”

The woman has a history of telling lies of this sort. One is left to wonder if TX law enforcement actually knew the truth about this but thought they could get away with persecuting an entire community. Thank goodness the TX supremes put a stop to their horrifically abusive actions.

Surely the pro-raid, pro-roundup FReepers will not try to say it was OK for this woman to lie about this. Please tell me it ain’t so.

But it was. It was a "cult house" and the girls were being made to marry nasty drooling old perverted cultist holy-joes.

Is this America or not?

Yes. A place where kids are protected from cults.

“Why is it that every thread I see you in you’re baiting for responses? “

I feel strongly about this issue - as strongly as I did about Gary Condit knowing something about the death of Chandra Levy.

This site has always been about freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom to say what we feel about controversial subjects. It used to be a conservative site where folks came to complain about government intrusion in our lives, etc.

You should have seen my posts when they were starving and dehydrating Terri Schiavo!! And I will never forget what they did to Terri Schiavo. Never!

I will never forget the roasting of those innocent children at Waco. Never!

And I will never stop criticizing the out of control government actions against these pathetic FLDS folks. Never!

That’s all fine and well.

“Surely the pro-raid, pro-roundup FReepers will not try to say it was OK for this woman to lie about this. Please tell me it ain’t so.”

That however is an ongoing theme from you which is “baiting for a response”. Instead of logically making a point and debating your stance, or just being pissed off about the whole thing in general you’re throwing daggers at your potential audience.

I’ve got a drug house down the street from me that the local law enforcement won’t touch. I guess I’m a pro-raid, pro-roundup Freeper too.

Not everyone will share all your views all the time. It’s called life and that free speech conundrum you touted so proudly weighs heavily for both sides of every argument; something your posts seem to forget.

Cute. However - could you please post some reference? Especially to validate the part about “nasty drooling old and perverted”?

Also, I suppose there might be a few “holy-joes” and holy-janes” here at FR, who don't think that being holy is a bad thing.

Look into the "cultural heritage" of this cult.

Really? Wheres the proof? Seems like after several years of investigation and this little fiasco there should be ample proof, IF a crime had actually occurred.

This is America, where people can worship as they wish, and where we are innocent until proven guilty.

“You obviouly feel strongly in support of old men marrying little girls - just like Islam.”

Pretty weak argument if you have to pull that out. Theres very little in common between these folks and Islam. 50-60 years ago it was quite common for people to marry at 14 years old.

They’ve been investigated for years and have had their lives ripped apart and there is still no evidence. It resembles Salem far more than Islam.

I feel strongly about the Constitution and how it should apply to everyone. Innocent until proven guilty, you know, stuff like that. I'm funny that way, I guess. Apparently you do not think the Constitution should apply to people you don't like. Thank goodness the TX supremes still defend the Constitution.

Apparently, you haven't been reading many of these threads. When someone accuses me - and those who are horrified by what is happening to the FLDS - of being defenders of pedophilia, of child rape, of polygamy, of child abuse, and every disgusting thing known to man or beast - the person making such an accusation is made to look the fool. Keep it up.

Child rapists deserve to die. The old leader, Jeffreys is in jail where he belongs.

She needs to do time in a federal prison and the state of texas needs to part with a HUGE sum of money over this fiasco and breach of the first and fourth amendments. Ideally, the principal actors in the child protective services should be criminally charged and and sued in civil court by the sleaziest lawyers the FLDS can find.

What 1950-1960? Really it's not that long ago. ------

The past 100 years for example, men had an average age at marriage of 25.9 years in 1900. Women in 1900 had an average age at marriage of 22 years.

Currently the average age at marriage in the US is 26.8 years for men, and 25.1 years for women.
