McCain at The Race conference: Capitulation complete; Update: Juan Hernandez to broker meeting with Morones?

By Michelle Malkin • July 15, 2008 08:32 AM

As expected, John McCain’s appearance at the annual convention of La Raza/The Race yielded no Hermana Souljah moments. Ed Morrissey points to McCain’s mild, almost apologetic rejoinder to open-borders zealot Enrique Morones and compares it to Barack Obama’s embrace of the radical activist. That’s a relief. But it’s the very least we could expect of a Republican candidate. And when you watch the clip Ed posted, you’ll notice that in response to Morones blasting our Border Patrol agents as killers, there is not an explicit word of support from McCain for the thousands of men and women who try to enforce our immigration laws–men and women Barack Obama accuses of terrorism. Instead, McCain echoes Morones and La Raza’s talking points about the need for “humane” and “compassionate” enforcement and commits himself to “stop the inhumane raids.”

Translation: No enforcement.

J.Mac tossed conservatives a bone when he said it wasn’t “politically feasible” to approach “comprehensive immigration reform” without securing the borders first. I never understood what was so “comprehensive” and “reforming” about amnesty anyway.

Michelle Malkin is a conservative commentator that I respect. She understands the term illegal immigrant and unlike a lot of hack journalists, believes it is an important issue even though these two treacherous Senators running for POTUS, could care less about things like borders, enforcing laws, and sovereignty.

Nice apology to La Raza. What's your motivation for making that statement? Do you employ these lawbreakers?

COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM (McCain version): First, you place a few extra border patrol agents along the border and announce that the border is secure. Then you give amnesty to the millions of illegals who have already sneaked in, and allow them to invite their families here as part of the “family reunification” deal. Then, with the problem “solved”, you reduce the number of border patrol agents and a new round of illegal immigration starts up, leading to another amnesty a few years down the road.

The difference between this version and the Obama version is that Obama won’t even bother to pretend to secure the border.

““humane” and “compassionate” enforcement”

Just another new set of code words for AMNESTY.

We weren’t shamed enough by being called racists and xenophobes....so now we are inhumane and have no compassion.

"What's your motivation for making that statement?"

Uhhh, because I have crossed the border?

There's plenty of security at the border crossings, not enough in between.
