Billboards bearing a photo of the Twin Towers burning and a plea not to vote for Democrats has sparked controversy in Orlando, Florida. The person behind the billboard, Mike Meehan, is holding the Democrats responsible for the 9/11 attacks:
"I'm holding the entire Democratic Party responsible for the attacks on 9/11," said Meehan, who wrote, sang, produced and recorded the song. He said people should not vote for Democrats because they are too focused on solving the problems in the economy when they should be focused on the war on terrorism. [. . .] "Democrats are relaxed on fighting the war on terrorism," he said. "But it's just as important as the economy. The economy and terrorism go together." Terrorists had warned they would destroy the American economy financially, and we can see their success in the high prices of oil, Meehan said. Meehan's website advertises a CD and music video titled "The Republican Song," with the chorus, "Don't vote for a Democrat." He sells CDs for $5 to cover the cost of getting his message out. According to ABC affiliate WFTV in Orlando, both parties have criticized the billboards. Meehan knows people will find his ads offensive, but he said, "It's more offensive that our nation is forgetting about the attacks." We must never forget.
Love it...
This is not helping...
This guy is self-promoting at the Republican Party’s expense.
Looks like he’s got the cash to spend on billboards and the first amendment is alive an well despite Juan McAmnety’s attempts to the contrary.

I would like to buy a copy of the CD, but when I went to the website, it is unavailable. Must be getting a lot of hits.
I can understand why the Democrat Party Machine would not like this Billboard.
Hits (no pun intended) too close to home.
However they have no one to blame but themselves. The very fact that Barack Obama is going to be their candidate speaks volumes why this Billboard makes perfect sense during an election period.
If you look at the Party leaders Pelosi and Reid, can anyone with a modicum of common sense not understand that this is the party best suited to, not be, the defenders of America?

This guy is self-promoting at the Republican Partys expense.)
Helping who?
It seems to me his intent is to help America and not necessarily the Republican Political Party.
I find it very refreshing to see some honesty in the election debate.
You won’t get that between the two political party’s........
It’s about TIME someone had the gonads to stand up and tell it like it is.
:)
Yes it IS helping, the Republican’s Expense? LOL. Whatever.
I’m a Republican and have been since Carter was in office. I think it’s time people got off their asses and told the truth.
I’d always thought a billboard of bin laden with a slogan “Who would HE vote for?”. Would be a good one. No mention of either party or candidate. Put it up, and see who gets the most upset.
Good for Meehan.

If somebody is going to spell out “REPUBLICAN” in eight-foot-high letters, the Republicans are going to be held responsible for the statement. I would venture to say that this billboard is inconsistent with their election strategy.
This guy is using the name of the Republican Party to promote sales of his own CD. There is no reason he should be applauded.
I never will. But that does not mean that I have to clap like a seal every time somebody profiteers off of 9/11.
I support the Republican Party primarily because they are better on the WOT. Frankly, there is little else to recommend them, these days.
American capitalism at its finest! So what if it's not in line with the yellow bellied RINO election strategy.
If he wasn’t in it for the money, he would not have put the link to his website on the billboard. He is using 9/11 for an advertisement so he can sell CDs. We’re supposed to like this?
A visual representation of fact.
He is a musician who wrote a song, that has a political message, and hopes to make a profit. Thats not much different than any ofter musician out there.
It's just causing a firestorm because its hitting real close to home for all the democrats out there. If it was some lefty with a pro Democrat agenda, he would be invited to the DNC convention to play live.
After all, they are only trying to make money! It's as American as Apple Pie!
I purchased the 9/11 documentary by the two French brothers that CBS ran...Neil Diamond sang a song I enjoy listening to, and have purchased titled “Let’s Roll”, just as I did “Have You Forgotten?” by Darryl Worley and “Where were you” by Alan Jackson; I purchased Lisa Beamer’s book “Let’s Roll”, which she sold for a profit. People have purchased commemorative magazines, etc. all of which were sold for a profit and all of which could be argued that they were using 9/11 for an advertisement. I’ve not heard his song, but it’s possible 9/11 is a pivotal part of his song. People have utilized 9/11 from 9/11 forward to turn a profit.
This is a free country, and he can utilize whatever he choses to advertise. I didn’t complain when Michael Moore used 9/11 in his movie Farenheit 9/11 - although I strongly objected to the message of the movie.
It’s been almost 7 years, and we, as a nation, are just as complacent than we were on 9/10/01. I believe he makes a valid point about Americans forgetting. And as the Darryl Worley song says, “You took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it’s too disturbin for you and me
It’ll just breed anger is what the experts say
If it was up to me I’d show it everyday”
Most people don’t hold the Democrats responsible for 9-11, and rightfully so. There was enough apathy on both sides prior to 9-11. But if there is another terrorist attack on American soil, Democrats will have dirty hands.
What?!? This guy's not all there.
Democrats are too focused on creating new problems. They're not focusing on solving anything except how to fill their pockets.
The Dems are rooting for a replay of the great depression so they can use dwindling government resources to bribe potential voters like FDR did.
Democrats at the very least are Terrorist enablers.

He uses the names of two political parties, both of which repudiate his message. He wears the American flag as a shirt. The flag in the background looks like it could be on fire. He makes a juvenile political point, and then goes right into his self-promotion. He implies that the Republicans support him, by saying that his song is The Republican Song.
It's just tacky. I just don't like to see 9/11 imagery used in such a tacky way.
I can understand why you and others are upset at someone profiting from a national tragedy.
Im just saying that this guy is no different than other lefties who have done exactly the same thing, but did not receive the same outraged response. Take Michael Moore for example. He made a movie, with a political message, for profit. He exploited 9/11 for monetary gain and received accolades form the left.
Consider Pearl Harbor, how many Hollywood directors used that event to make films for profit.
When it comes right down to it, the use of shocking content to promote an agenda is as typical as it gets.
Oh, I agree. I just don't have to applaud it, that's all I'm saying.
If he wants to do this, it's (still) a (somewhat) free country!
his argument would be more effective if there hadn’t been a republican president and congress when the attacks occurred
