Caught this via a Luciannne to Alegre’s Corner to Powerline link… all hitting the blogosphere yesterday.
Politico documents the DNC happy face is all but that under the surface. It appears that the DNC leadership is feeling left out in the cold with BHO not checking in to coordinate his campaign talking points with them. And as the party leadership smiles, their underling staffers are whining:
Privately, however, there is a different message coming from some Democratic quarters on the Hill and on K Street. Some Democratic leadership staffers complain that, having defeated the vaunted Clinton political machine in the primaries, the Obama campaign now feels a sense of entitlement that leads to arrogance.
One Democratic aide, speaking on the condition of anonymity, compared the Obama campaign unfavorably to President Bushs administration.
At least Bush waited until he was in the White House before they started ignoring everybody, the aide said.
These relationships matter, said a House Democrat close to the leadership. I really hope these guys try to get off on the right foot. We all know what happened to [former President] Jimmy Carter and [former President] Bill Clinton. We dont want to see a repeat of that.
But the DCCC’s exec director, Brian Wolffe, really lays out the BS - saying “… that some of the supposed arrogance coming from the Obama camp is in reality a misinterpreted sense of confidence in the campaigns plan for winning the Oval Office, including grass-roots mobilization, in-state political infrastructure, messaging and get-out-the vote operations.
uh huh…

It would be suicide not to nominate BHO at this point.

The WaPo put Obama in his place regarding Iraq. Then that New York magazine had the caricature of Obama and wife. Something might very well be afoot.

If true, it will keep almost every black democratic voter home, and every hard leftist and egghead will vote for Nader. Excellent.
If false, it will raise and then crush the hopes of Hillary supporters, causing some to stay home and some to perhaps even vote McCain. Excellent.
Either way, I'm doing an impression of Mr. Burns.

Like FA said, pass the popcorn. There's gonna be blood running in the gutters in Denver next month, and it ought to be a spectacle. Come to think of it, I think it's high time I bought a TiVo for the Viking Lodge.

sense of confidence in the campaigns plan for winning the Oval Office... I've noticed in my district (MA, of course) MANY MANY oBomba lawn signs, in what should be infractions against local temporary/political sign statutes. Is this common elsewhere? At least here, the local ordinances state signs limited to 30 days, about 3 weeks prior to the election to a week after the election. Presumably, they would need to be removed during the month between primary and actual election.

Obama has always been pretty uppity. Most saw it from the beginning. If Democrats changed now, they would loose the black vote and you’d probably see riots across the country. You’re better off leaving things alone and put McCain in office by a large margin.

What these geniuses in both the Obama and Hiliarly camps fail to realize is that they are facing a dual “lose-lose” proposition.
If Obama is the nominee (as it appears he will be), there is so much resentment and anger among the disillusioned Hiliarly Koolaid drinkers that there will be a substantial shift of voters into the McCain column in November and Obama will lose by Dukakis proportions.
If perchance, Hiliarly and her accomplices DO manage to yank the nomination away from Obama, it will trigger the worst kind of riots and violence ever seen in this Country, over and above what we saw in the 60’s, you can take that to the bank. The far leftists in the ‘Rat party will not take kindly to what they see as a ‘centrist’ (imagine that, Hiliarly being viewed as a ‘centrist’, Marxist whore that she is!) taking away their first real shot to capture the White House since McGovern in ‘72, they will either burn down the ‘Rat party (figuratively OR literally), or they will bolt the party and try to run Obama as a third party candidate (he will refuse I predict), or hook up with some ninny like Cynthia McKinney (hey, I’m a poet and don’t know it! lol) And Hiliarly will lose by a substantial margin.
Either way, future historians will look back at the ‘Rat convention of 2008 and conclude that this was where their political existence essentially came to an end.
I believe that.

"It would be suicide not to nominate BHO at this point" True enough but the same argument will be used regarding his election should he, as expected, secure the nomination: If BHO is rejected by the American people then.. strife (ahem), collapse of long fought for racial gains, blah, blah-blah, blah-blah-blah. Gotta send this sucker packing sometime and it's better if it's the Dims who get the blame.

Massachusetts is special. Of course every city and town has its share of sign nannies, but in most places they've been intimidated into keeping their mouths shut. I've heard of cases where sign nannies were actually hurt!

Could be. If it turns out to be a close election, it might be due to McCain shooting himself in the foot as COG's (Cranky Ol' Guys) tend to do sometimes, but I believe that when the average voter is faced with the choice of another inexperienced rube like Jimmy Carter vs. our C.O.G. who at least has the national security and military credentials that Obama-lama-ding-dong doesn't, they will pull the lever for McCain.
Please God, let them pull the lever for McCain.

The Green Party nominated an even bigger loon. If BHO has the nomination taken away, blacks are going to vote for Cynthia McKinney
