If that’s all there is to it, good. Justice is served.
He might have a bit of trouble for shooting the scumbag in the back, but he’s done a public service for the community by helping to clean up the neighborhood and should be given a pass.

This one looks safe to ping, but it's rarely a good idea to shoot a fleeing burglar!
By the way, if anyone remembers my vanity from a while back about a semiauto, I went and purchased a Glock 22 .40 S&W handgun today. Love those hi-cap mags!

Those high-capacity assault sniper clips are evil.

Congrats on the Glock. (I'm a Sig Sauer guy).
"Fleeing" being the operative word there. The shooter may have a murder or manslaughter charge on his hands if the bad guy wasn't threatening his life or the lives of others in the dwelling and was trying to run away.
Deadly force is the absolute last thing I would use.

Enjoy your Glock 22. That’s what the full-timers were issued in the Sheriff’s Office here, so I got one.
I’m not liking this scenario. I mean I’m glad the burglar got shot, but I think the shooter is in trouble, IF the story is as reported, which is increasingly a valid question.

Yep. Unlike Texas, where self defense includes proprty rights, residents of a lot of states have no such rights. It’s worse than disgusting.

I bought a 9MM when they were in vogue but am thinking of trading up to a .40. No high cap mags in California.
The shooter should have said the perp was reaching for a kitchen knife and then dropped a couple of them on the floor...

My guess, he’ll be charged, as we have no Castle Doctrine law here in the PRM!

ALWAYS ALWAYS keep a spare screw driver that doesn’t look like it belongs to your collection in the house.
Knowing the law, I don’t know what I would have done. If he was in my house and facing me, dropped no problem. This makes it tough, though I don’t fault him for shooting first asking questions later.

It would be interesting to compare burglary rates in states with property rights and states without ‘em.

From article:
The state's attorney's office is waiting for the completion of the homicide investigation before reviewing the case to determine whether to press charges, said Margaret Burns, a spokeswoman for the state's attorney's office. Maryland...where guns are registered and outlaws roam free.

Yep, you are right. If someone has broken into your house in Texas the law in Texas considers him a deadly threat to you and in addition you have the right to use deadly force in protecting your property from theft. If some kid was stealing gas from my vehicle I would not kill him. If he breaks into my house he is a dead man. I wish this guy had of done this in Texas instead of Maryland. I think he is in trouble.
