N.J. Councilman Starts Crusade Against Saggy Pants
Paterson Politician Is Sick And Tired Of The Look And If He Has It His Way, Indecency Fines Will Soon Follow

PATERSON, N.J. (CBS) ― Instead of "stick 'em up," it will be more like "pull 'em up" now that fashion police in New Jersey have started a crackdown on baggy pants.

It's happening in Paterson, where city officials want to put the kibosh on this form of fashion.

Bart Johnson says wearing his pants low in a fashion statement, but one councilman is saying pull it up. He's even crafted a proposal to ban "baggy pants."

Teenagers and even little ones and women are sporting the fashion. The "saggy" or "baggy" look, where pants are pulled down and boxers are exposed seems to be all the rage these days.

Well, at least for some.

"I don't know. I'm not used to wearing my pants to my waist," college student LaToya Williams said.

"We're tired of seeing your behind," Davis said. "We don't want to see your back side. We don't need to see your underwear. We don't need to see your drawers. Wear your pants."

Some teens we spoke to were all for "baggin'" the sagging look.

"Sometimes you don't have the cleanest underwear on," Rayshon Johnson said.

**SNIP**

Cities have had a difficult time pushing through the baggy pants pans. In Irvington, N.J., a councilwoman recently had to pull her proposal after facing legal questions.

Some say they're getting a bum rap.

Just a little cheeky for my taste. The government should butt out.

This started in the 1990’s. When arrested the first things taken from the prisoner is his belt and shoelaces,to keep them from trying to hurt themselves. The young hoodlums started to wear their pants like this to tell the Police they were ready to be arrested and did not care.

They’re trying to be patriotic - they simply misread “for ourselves and our posterity.” Somebody needs to tell them it’s not “posterior.”

I am all for that look. When I see someone wearing them, it serves as a warning that I am someplace that I do have any business being in.

Just start a campaign to get everyone to laugh and point at these jackasses and call them “SAGGY PANTS!” all the time.

I mean, if they don’t know enough to be embarrassed on their own about this, we can all teach them to be.

If 'twere not so ribald I might have laughed:
To be clothed yet undress'd? That's e'er so daft,
Horse sense, manners and good social craft:
Say show the front of the horse, and not the aft.

I feel a Haiku coming on, just not necessarily mine.

I thought it was from the prison culture, when the "booty bandits" wore their pants loose so they could...be stupid in a fast manner and be able to go back to "normal" should a guard show up.

Maybe the cops should just sneak up behind baggy-wearing "utes" and give them a quick yank. Pantsing by a cop is probably really embarrassing for gang-bangers.

Or what my mother calls the "poopy pants" look.

Pitchers and Catchers,
That’ the deal.
They’ve invented a fad,
Not the wheel.
They want to offend me,
By appearing a mope,
When you get inside kid,
DON’T DROP THE SOAP!
