President Bush lowers gasoline price (sort of)
Local | July 17, 2008 | From The Deer Stand

President George W. Bush recently declared that Congress should permit drilling on the offshore continental shelf. Shortly after his decree the price of oil began dropping and the drop continued today. In our small rural area the price of gasoline dropped from $4.09 on Wednesday to $3.83 on Thursday. Drill here, drill now, drop prices!

Wow, maybe my small, rural town will be next.

You mean, speculators speculate on supply?

If liberals waited for the third week on freshman Economic, before dropping it to pursue Polynesian dress making, THEN they would know that.

They know how to do a french seam...instead.

notice the pump says AMOCO?

It can’t be that old. “amoco” used to be “standard”. I think your photo is a fake.

Pelosi and Reid...both have enviros shoved so far up their rectums, they shoot out dollars every election.

They don’t have to do anything other than obstruct to get payola from the non growth, anti-human agendas from the greens.

The really ironic thing about communists...when they are the ruling power..they suppress all dissent. Nothing like claiming to be a progressive and support a silencing and kill dissenter agenda.

You’re right. It’s Pelosi’s fault that gas prices are high.

I don’t want the prices to drop just yet until we open up drilling in ANWAR.

Interesting.

I never saw an “amoco” station until the standard stations changed their name to “amoco”.

Since we’re on the subject, a few other old stations I don’t see anymore:

kerr mcgee
gulf
union 76

Its amazing....

Everyone was blaming the Middle East, speculators, the dollar, etc. And that Bush is an idiot. The thing everyone left out was futures. The market is effected by supply, short and long term. Short term reserves have been fine, so price is being impacted by long term reserves. you don't need to drill extract all these reserves to effect price, just know that they are there.

Bush opened offshore drilling, market saw access to oil, price went down. Whose the idiot? Nancy?

At about the same time Bernake was talking about how the ecomony was having difficulties and figures came out showing that demand for gas was down and supplies were up. I think that had far more to do with the drop than anything Bush could have said.

Not a fake phot at all ... Amoco was selling in the south the same time and same company as Standard was selling in North and Midwest.

The station just up the road from me has their cheapest grade at $4.29/gal.

To say I’m getting sick of this sh*t is an understatement.

Lots of sinclairs around still where I am. I do remember for awhile they were going by the name “DINO”. I think it was a marketing experiment or something. It didn’t last long...that was in the mid eighties I think. Kerr Mcgee changed to “KM”, then dissapeared entirely...also in the mid eighties iirc.

That old pump has been at long abandone decades old gas station by the side of a highway. There are two others there as well, long since dead and a little beat up. I grew up not far from it in the early70's and can't ever remember the station ever being in service. I stopped by finally after years of passing it and popped a few photos.

If you want, more photos are here. If somebody long ago did some modfiying and fixing with spare parts or went creative, who is to say?
