Two police officers are on sick leave after being attacked by a mob in south London after they asked a 15-year-old girl to pick up her litter.
One officer was dragged to the ground and kicked while the other was bitten by a girl who jumped on his back.
Up to 30 people took part in the attack, which happened in North End, Croydon, on Wednesday afternoon.
Trouble flared when the 15-year-old threw her food wrapper back on to the ground and became aggressive.
Hospital treatment
A girl who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault has been released on bail.
Two men, aged 34 and 38 and both from South Norwood, south London, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and violent disorder.
Police said the girl initially picked up the fast food wrapper when asked by the patrolling officers, but immediately dropped it again sparking the confrontation.
The officers, aged 34 and 29, suffered bruising and knee injuries and are currently on sick leave.
The officer who received the bite wound required hospital treatment.
Officers have been examining CCTV footage from the area.
Insp Simon Ellingham said: "We have heard from several retailers in the area who were horrified at the level of violence used by the crowd against the officers."
And they won’t let cops carry anything to protect themselves with. DUMB.DUMB. DUMB.
No doubt these acts had nothing to do with members of the cult of Islam.

A cop with a visibly holstered handgun twirling a nightstick will deter at least a large majority from bad behavior. Nobody wants to get whacked, and fewer want to risk being shot.

From this it appears an increasing 'foreign' population without the traditional respect for the "Bobby" police. Great Britain is reaping the whirlwind it sowed during the days of Empire. Yet they need these people to support their Health and Welfare systems in the post WW2 Socialism Delusional Utopia.
They call them "lager louts" if I remember correctly. The crowd could have been muslim, but it wouldn't surpris me if this was just your standard drunken white British trash.
The only time I ever found myself in a violent crowd was on a street in Cambridge- two groups of drunken white Brits got into a large brawl in the middle of the street and I just happened to be walking by. The lack of police response was shocking. The fight just kept going and going- I can't imagine a brawl like that continuing unabated in an American college town like Ann Arbor or Madison. And if that had happened in a place like NYC, the place would have been swarming with cops in minutes.
Just looking briefly at the statistics, it seems that the local council is majority-Conservative and that 2 out of 3 of this area's MPs are Conservatives. This doesn't strike me as one of the bad or dangerous areas of London (those bad areas are nothing, when compared with the worst that our nation's capital has to offer).
After all, the knives have now been confiscated.

Your guess as good as mine. The BBC motto is we are PC and will never change they celebrate homosexuality, Muslin law, and bashing Yanks, except for Osama Obama.
I expect to see a lot more of mob action in England. The government has pushed the people into the wall with a combination of inefficiency, totalitarianism, obsession with minutiae while ignoring the real purposes of government, and terrible unfairness.
Unwilling to tackle crime, and even taking the side of criminals over the honest citizenry is asking for vigilantism. Sending police to harass the citizens will turn the citizenry against the police, either by refusal to cooperate or violent attack.
Something that has been noted is that in England, a Labour government invariably results in an explosion of alcoholism and depression. It drives the weaker people to just quit. But the stronger people become angry. And when anger is bottled up for so long, with no chance of release through a real opposition party, it is bound to come out in public disorder.
Again, there is no real political opposition in England, the political parties being near identical in their worthlessness. It is amazing that a radical party has not yet arisen, most likely outside of the system, as the government would not permit a legitimate opposition.
So will England become like Paris? Not the riots of today, but the riots of yesteryear, culminating with the guillotine?

I will have to access Google on the district of Croydon. I had not heard too much previously about it. As for my countrymen, they have indeed created their own monster. Orwell's 1984 and Huxley's Brave New World did not quite touch on that future. I would suggest that "The Clockwork Orange" comes closest. In that film, the powers that be, "tortured" the human rat with aversion therapy.

Time was when the rank and file members of British society would stomp the punks because they were punks. It was wrong for anyone to be assaulted just for wearing clothes with holes in them and spikey hair.

You are probably right, sadly. I can see that attitude sinking in with a complacent police force.
But, as the NYPD showed in the 90's, the best way to fight this type of social disorder is for the cops to get on the streets and become proactive. Ignoring the little crimes just breeds an environment where larger crimes don't seem as big a deal. But if you get out there and bust people for urinating in public, having an open container or acting drunk and disorderly, you make it clear that law and order is a priority.
Well... come on, even if they want, the government is asking for it now. Look at the crap they are throwing on their people and tell me that (while I disagree with them attacking cops!) the people aren’t just a LITTLE fed up over there these days?

I’ve seen documentary coverage of police monitoring these cameras, watching someone shoplift from several businesses before making the collar.
I’ve also witnessed chases where the perp gets away with dozens of officers in the area.
Some would rather build a case than stop the crime in action.
These yobs make America’s lowest class look positively refined by comparison.

Canadian police departments are recruiting heavily from English departments. There was a story a few months ago where the former Met officers were amazed at how well they were treated by the citizens of Calgary. People wave at them with all five fingers.
