DNC Sees Cindy McCain's Wealth as Fair Game (Future Beergate)
ABC News ^ | July 18, 2008 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 07/18/2008 10:04:38 AM PDT by keepitreal

CNN this week took a look at Cindy McCain's wealth this week, reporting that she "is not only a wife to Senator John McCain, she is also his meal ticket. Her reported 2006 income of more than $6 million exceeded her husband's earnings 16 times over. That money pays for a wealthy lifestyle of high end condos, an Arizona ranch, flying in a corporate jet, and more." The story quoted a writer from the Politico saying that her beer distributorship funded his first congressional campaign and has subsidized his presidential campaign.

CNN correspondent David Mattingly reported that "as president, McCain would run a mammoth bureaucracy with regulatory control over alcohol sales, distribution and consumption. The next administration would probably have to deal with issues of beer taxes, labeling, maybe even the politically sensitive international merger just announced involving the giant Anheuser-Busch. These are all issues that could create a conflict because they could have an impact on the McCain family bottom line."

(snip)

Simmons said that shows that McCain is "not in touch where most of Americans are. That month where he was spending $750,000 on credit card debts, it was from March 2007 until the beginning of 2008, middle of 2008. And that's when they were spending all the money of credit cards. They would not have been able to keep the John McCain campaign alive had he not had this personal wealth."

If it were me, I’d say “hell yes my wife is beautiful, rich, and loves guns, God, and beer - I’m the luckiest guy on the face of the earth!”

I don’t think I’ll ever make it in politics...

Typical...Liberals hate the successful...unless they are drunkie junkie Hollywood perverts, or lying thieving Democrat politicians.

I irritated the hell outa some Obie types by pointing out how lame the Dems are: Kerry marries a ketchup heiress, while McCain gets a beer one. How cool is that?

Beauty and the Beer!

George Soros’ wealth is definitely fair game.

Make a comparison with Swift Boat captain John Kerry who married into a fortune and was directed by his bread giver during his election.
No such interference on the McCain side, only silent support and presence.

Some yo-yo I work with said she wouldn't vote for McCain because he left his first wife.

Yes, people make voting decisions based on all kinds of irrelevant information.

How silly. I don't remember CNN OR the DNC getting all hot and bothered when Terayza's fortune was helping to fund John Effin Kerry's run, OR being concerned about possible conflicts that the business that she inherited from her deceased husband would be partly regulated by the Food and Drug Administration.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit to find out that the long separation, because of his being a POW, was the major reason for the break-up. His wouldn't have been the first marriage not to survive that situation.

No kidding.

If they are going to put Cindy in play (and they are going to put EVERYTHING in play before it is all said and done) then it is open season on Michele Obama’s background.

I’d bet the only reason she got into Princeton was her race (and I can be easily proven wrong if they post her SAT’s). Same for Obumble. No SAT’s or LSAT’s available. Why not? (* paging Captain Obvious)

Second, she wouldn’t be pulling down +300K a year at UNC-Hosp if Odimbo hadn’t landed them a fat $10M slab of Congressional pork. After reading her thesis, I doubt she was worth the 80K they were paying her before ‘the Big Bump’

If they go after her over her episode of addiction, it will backfire against them... Also, the more blue-collar people realize that she’s basically the one who delivers their beers, the more they would like her.

Go for it Democrats, I dare you. Cindy is charitable, look it up. Then go to You Tube and embrace the love that flows from every pore of Michelle Obama’s soul, as she gives a hand to the handicapped.

Crap, Obama just said yesterday that he would not attack Cindy McCain. That pledge lasted less than a day.

The GOP can easily embarrass the Dims if they want to play that game. There are plenty of filthy-rich Dim politicians. I’ll bet Cindy’s percentage of charitable contributions runs way out ahead of, for instance, Queen Nancy’s. The Heinz Foundation might give away a lot of money, but it’s mostly left wing political groups.
