Well...he’s right, by any measure used in the Fall and Spring of 02-03, the Mission has been “Accomplished” as it were.
All that really is left is the details of the agreement to drawdown and provide covering services like Air Power and Training...and which bases can stay...

Indeed we have. A long time ago.
The key is to not let the Left define the criteria for success, which as we have seen entails constantly moving the goalposts further down the field, as each successs is attained, or ignoring ANY good news altogether.
Historically unprecedented in this country, and absolutely disgusting.

We have won and the war is over. There are terrorist attacks all over the ME and will never stop. The war is over in Korea and we haven’t left yet.

"Progress between the United States and Iraq on a time horizon for American troop presence is further evidence that the surge has succeeded. Most of the U.S. forces used in the surge have already been withdrawn. When a further conditions-based withdrawal of U.S. forces is possible, it will be because we and our Iraqi partners built on the successes of the surge strategy, which Senator Obama opposed, predicted would fail, voted against and campaigned against in the primary. When we withdraw, we will withdraw with honor and victory. An honorable and victorious withdrawal would not be possible if Senator Obama's views had prevailed. An artificial timetable based on political expediency would have led to disaster and could still turn success into defeat. If we had followed Senator Obama's policy, Iraq would have descended into chaos, American casualties would be far higher, and the region would be destabilized."

I pray that the dimocrats don’t mock this like they did President Bush and the sign on the ship:
Mission Accomplished.

I think they will. And it’s going to throw them in disarray. They’re going to say, “McCain is so old and confused that he can’t see that we’ve lost.”
And when they do that McCain is going to point out the facts on the ground, and show that the Democrats are the Party of failure. This is a dangerous maneuver on McCain’s part, but it forces the Democrats to either agree with him, or berate him. Neither works well for the Dems.
