The deputy to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Saturday that Iran was a friend of Israel, Iranian news agencies reported.

"Iran wants no war with any country, and today Iran is friend of the United States and even Israel.... Our achievements belong to the whole world and should be used for expanding love and peace," said Iranian Vice President Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei, who is also head of the Cultural Heritage Organization.

The Cultural Heritage Organization news agency quoted him as saying that even during the eight-year war against Iraq, Iran just defended itself against the military invasion by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

I finished reading The Rise and Fall Of The Third Reich a few months ago. Every time I read of an instance where Imanutjob takes a defiant tone against a country or countries and then softens his stance a short time later reminds me of a similar tactic used by Hitler to keep his enemies off guard. He is trying to repeat history. The question will the west fall for it again?

Iran is a country in total disarray with absolutley no one in control. Like NAZI Germany it consists of many power grabbing factions. However, unlike NAZI Germany their is no single man who can exert decisive power. It would be very easy for Iran to turn into a democracy with it’s current constitution. All they would need to do is ammend it to remove the Mullahs’ veto power. Most of the country is ready to do this. And the Mullahs’ who are very unpopular because of their incompetence and corruption. May just let it happen to literaly save their heads.

In reality, Iran runs a vicious secret police that murders with impunity anyone it pleases. The ayatollahs and the president as their front man speak for a committed fanatical paramilitary cadre, that is about as likely to turn over the country to democrats as the Waffen SS.

If we do nothing, Iran will get nukes and it will use them. Everything else is an evasion of our responsibilities.
