Over to You, Speaker Pelosi. Let's Drill.
Weekly Standard ^ | 7/28/2008 | Matthew Continetti

Gas is still at $4 a gallon, but the good news is there's an emerging consensus on a measure that would help: Drill for more oil here at home. President Bush dropped the executive ban on offshore oil and natural gas exploration last week, and House GOP leader John Boehner plans to lead a congressional delegation to Colorado and Alaska to highlight America's abundant energy resources this week. Polls show more than two-thirds of the public support increased domestic energy exploration and production. Guess who stands in the way.

Congress has its own ban on offshore energy exploration, and the Democrats who run Congress have shown no sign that they are willing to follow Bush's example. They have preferred to make excuses--about why the price of oil is rising, who is to blame for its rise, and why increasing domestic supply won't do anything to ameliorate the problem.

It isn't working. Democrats are losing the fight over gas prices, and they know it, too.

This is a winning issue for Republican, if they would get on the ball and explain to the people, that the Democraats with all their rhetoric, put their politics above the well being of the country and the people. High gas prices hurt the lower income people worst, those the Dems keep claiming they are so concerned about, yet refuse to do what would relieve the high gas prices and help the economy.

Drill here, drill now, pay less. And don't forget nuclear -- if France could develop their nuclear energy in the past 20-30 years, so now they get 80% of their energy from nuclear, why can't we? All it takes is the will to do it.

Rep. Pelosi will continue to stop off shore drilling. It is a core belief for her district constituents and a cornerstone of her idealism. Add to that, she has the more radical Cindy Sheehan wanting to unseat her for her congressional district. Mrs. Pelosi can’t back down on this issue even if it means that she takes down the democratic party in the process.

The Democrats are almost always wrong but their energy policy has been the most destructive to America. The problem is that the American people don’t understand what is really going on and the Democrats and the MSM have been working to confuse them. For the good of our country, the Republicans have to communicate to the American people:
1. how destructive the Democrat policies are to our country,
2. how America has more than enough oil, natural gas and coal to meet our energy needs and
3. that our energy problems are caused by the government.

Been wondering also about why Republicans don't use this issue against the Democrats. After September 30, 2008, the Congressional ban on offshore drilling expires. At that point, the Democrats either have to simply allow it to expire, or take steps to insure that the ban remains in place. At that time, it would be prudent for the Republicans to strike! It would then be obvious to even the most dense person that the Democrats are the obstructions when it comes to oil. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Idealism my _ _ _ . I wonder how many of these members of congress that keep voting no to drilling have their money invested in the commodities market buying oil.
America is being fleeced and you have to wonder if these people aren’t lining their own pockets while they fleece ours.
After all this is suppose to be the most ethical congress ever ;)

This is a winning issue for Republicans

Forget Republicans, this is a WE THE PEOPLE moment. Those people work for us, we just have to wake up, realize our power and get with it.

More pressure on the Politicos, unrelenting pressure, remind every Democrat that you know what harm they are doing our nation, remind them that they are the anti-Americans, the do-nothing Congress and need to find another job.

Its just as important to give Airhead Nancy enough rope to finish the job. If she doesn’t allow a vote, then it will be clear where the problem lies on more energy.

If you like $4/gal, Thank Pelosi.

Bad news is, a crane fell on a refinery that was under construction, so the price of oil will go up first thing Monday.

Run them of offices. I can think of $700,000,000,000.00 reason PER YESR why we should DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW That's a lot of jobs and tax base going to other nations.

There is a solution and it is a very simple one.

Litmus test. If you want to represent us you have to support 1) drilling, 2) term limits.

Vote for the candidate who supports both.

The Lefties in the ‘Rat party aren’t interested drilling for more oil thereby lowering the price of gasoline. They want the oil industry owned by the government and all of us riding on government mass transit like good little comrades.
