Following are excerpts from an interview with Lebanese Sunni cleric Sheik Muhammad Abu Al-Qat’, which aired on Al-Manar TV.
Sheik Muhammad Abu Al-Qat’: Today, on May 10, 2008, at 22:50 – through Al-Manar TV – let me bring good tidings to the Muslims: Allah willing, the American empire will very soon collapse. They object to any talk about the destruction of the state of Israel.
Interviewer: And they are celebrating its 60th anniversary…
Sheik Muhammad Abu Al-Qat’: That’s not the issue. We say that Allah willing, within 10 to 12 years, America will collapse. This won’t happen as a result of war. Not at all. Allah will send to America an American Gorbachev, from within. Gorbachev, who brought about the USSR collapse, was one of them. Everybody knows this story. An American Gorbachev will surface in America, and he will destroy this empire.

If they can believe all the rest of the “religion of peace” they can believe the 12th imam! Of course it is difficult to discern just how many really believe it and how many are pretending to believe for whatever reason. Religious fanaticism is beyond explanation to me.

One huge difference — the islamic hadiths say they will destroy Israel at the Last Hour. Salvation is how many “good works” including killing infidels as a martyr. Jesus is only a prophet.
In Zechariah 14 the God of Israel *saves* Israel from all the nations trying to destroy her. Salvation in Christ is a free gift from God for the asking (Luke 18:9-14, Romans 10:9-10). Jesus is the Son of God.
They conflict. And Biblically, that makes all the difference in the world, FWIW.

Yes, they do. When Ahmanimijad visted that university last year, his prayer before the event referred to the 12th inman, and what he is doing to facilitate his coming. I think it was Glen Beck who had on a muslim commentator who explained the symbolism behind Ahmanimijad's prayer.
