Lieberman: Obama choosing to lose Iraq war
CNN ^ | 7/20/08

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama is choosing to lose the Iraq war by planning to withdraw American combat troops, a high-profile supporter of Republican candidate Sen. John McCain said Sunday.

Sen. Joseph Lieberman, a Democrat-turned-independent from Connecticut, said McCain's support for bolstering U.S. forces in Iraq last year to subdue insurgents has made Obama's expected visit to Iraq this week possible.

"John McCain had the guts to argue against public opinion, to put his whole campaign on the line, because, as he says, he'd rather lose an election than lose in a war that he thinks is this important to the United States," Lieberman said on "Fox News Sunday."

"If Barack Obama's policy in Iraq had been implemented, he couldn't be in Iraq today," Lieberman said, adding that Obama "was prepared to accept retreat and defeat."

Solid hit.

Joe Lieberman is right about Obama... He represents the party of retreat and defeat and the voters should take that into account in choosing America's next Chief Executive. We cannot afford Obama!

One more time:

“If Barack Obama’s policy in Iraq had been implemented, he couldn’t be in Iraq today,” Lieberman said, adding that Obama “was prepared to accept retreat and defeat.”

“And even President Bush now is coming up with a variety of euphemisms: aspirational goals, time horizons. I mean, it’s starting to sound pretty much like a timeline to me.”

No Sen. Bayh, it’s called defining victory, as opposed to your timeline for defeat.

If McCain were going to go for a ‘Rat, I’d prefer Zell Miller.

Let us review Obama’s statements;

• Democrat Barack Obama, Jan. 2007: “I am not persuaded that 20,000 additional troops in Iraqis going to solve the sectarian violence there. In fact, I think it will do the reverse.”

• Democrat Barack Obama, Jan 2007: “I don’t think the president’s [surge] strategy is going to work.”

• Democrat Barack Obama, Jul. 2007: “My assessment is that the surge has not worked.”

• Democrat Barack Obama, Oct. 2007: “[The surge is a] complete failure... Iraq’s leaders are not reconciling. They are not achieving political benchmarks.”

.
Obama just wanted the surge to fail, very sad that this man is now visiting the Troops he wouldn’t support.

Nice try CNN. Joe was tossed out of the party by the left wing loons. Then ran as an independent and kicked the Rats' candidate's arse.

I hate McCain but this hit was great. Rarely do you see Republicans hit democrats back, democrats are the masters of attack and Republicans just take it. Cant wait to see Obama TV =MSNBC tonight with Matthews/Obermann to see them complain about Leibermann.

BTW: democrat talking points :”Bush and McCain are finally following Obama’s advice from last year”. I am not kidding!

Have to wonder what his fans are thinking right about now.

He has stated he wants to take the troops away from Iraq and send them to Afghanistan.

Bring the troops home????????????

If Obama gets elected he will no way pull out all the troops, he will create some reason to keep them there and then declare himself the victor in Iraq. All the MSM and “anti-war” idiots will flock around and praise him for “turning it around” and then conveniently forget all his previous positions.
This is just a continuation of the Bash Bush Tour.

"If Barack Obama's policy in Iraq had been implemented, he couldn't be in Iraq today," Lieberman said, adding that Obama "was prepared to accept retreat and defeat."

Bingo!

I wish Obama's retinue of courtiers (aka, journalists) would ask the Iraqi people,

"What do you think Saddam, Uday and Kusay would be doing TODAY,
if they were still running Iraq?"

If Lieberman joined the GOP, he’d just be a hawkish RINO, I really do not see the fascination with this man. The enemy of my enemy is not always my friend...

Sometime between now and November McCain is going to have to declare the truth to the American people: WE HAVE WON THE WAR IN IRAQ.

IMHO, the time to do so is now.

Sen. Liberman is a good man. He has Faith, honor and courage.

How many others would have risked their political career as he has done for, yes, the Truth...

Exactly. On Iraq and WOT issues Sen. Lieberman is light years ahead of all Demagogues and RINOs. I don’t accept all his liberal views on other matters, but he is one of the most steadfast pols when it comes to the WOT. Some claim that’s only b/c of Israel but it’s far more than that — there are lots and lots of Jewish pols who are squishy soft appeasement hacks. Lieberman understands international security and military issues better than 90% of our politicians.

btw, the far-left drooling Nutroots must be hating Joe more than ever — boy do they loath any Democrat (now Independent) who does not toe the line of their retreat, defeat, and bleat policy of whiny appeasement.
