I KNOW WHAT WE SHOULD DO ... RAISE TAXES!
Congress is currently considering the idea of raising fuel taxes by ten cents.

Right now we pay 18.4 cents a gallon on gas and 24.3 cents on diesel. Congress thinks that this would be a great time to increase those taxes that you are paying at the pump. Why???? Well, it seems that our federal government doesn't have enough money to spend on highway projects. The chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Jim Oberstar presented the House with a list of how many jobs we will lose if we don't continue to spend tax dollars on highway construction and infrastructure. Oberstar says, "We'll put all things on the table ... but the gas tax is the cornerstone. Nothing else will work without the underpinning of the higher user fee gas tax." Gas tax revenues are down, of course, because the high price of gas is forcing people to consume less.
Here's an FYI for you ... If you include state and local taxes, Americans pay about 47 cents on average in taxes for a gallon of gas. In many European countries, gas costs $8 to $9 a gallon, and at least half of that goes to taxes.
The f-ing govt. already gets too much of my money.
Local, state, and federal govt.s should all go on a diet. Cut expenses, cut employees.
There is not a problem in the World that can’t be solved by raising taxes!

When I heard the gas tax recommendation over the weekend I literally laughed, you can’t make this stuff up.
I didn’t watch any of the Obamamania coverage this weekend, but Meet the Press with Brokaw interviewing Al Gore was on at the gym and I was a trapped rat. It was unwatchable, honestly, it was an infomercial for Gore, paid for by NBC.

Their never ending quest to feed the federal beast is amazing. This makes as much sense as the luxury tax fiasco several years ago. The Dems perceived bags of money sitting out there, if only we could punish the rich a little more for buying yachts and such. Result - many yacht builders out of business, never to return; eventual repeal of the punitive tax, but too late to bring back those businesses.
Another Socialist brainstorm thrown on the heap of failed schemes to acquire other peoples’ money. Disgusting.

Unfortunately, I have come to the conclusion that the republicans on the hill are not much better. I contacted my Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan and received a form letter back about how he supports drilling new refineries etc. When I replyed he must push congress to vote on off shore drilling, the idiot sent me the same form letter again. Is anybody on the hill listening??
This is exactly what is happening at the local counties and state level. So we are going to have our taxes raised on the county, state and now the federal level.
This is an abomination.

WTF gas prices are through the roof and keep going up and these assholes want to raise taxes on it bringing the price up more?
Let me refresh some memories here: “Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury.”
It seems to me, that the only way govt can pay it’s bills, is by;
-taxes
-borrowing
-reduce spending
We all know, and history and experience has shown that neither party actually reduces spending, especially their own.
That leaves taxes and borrowing. Personally, I think it’s morally irresponsible to saddle future generations with our bills.
What could possibly put the U.S. in a more urgent position to go to war for oil?
Either the Democrats have a plan or this all one huge coincidence.
The dumba$$ Democrats along with some Republicans either a still do not get this natural law of the universe concept, or do and just seek power. Pick your poison. Either way it does not make them look good.
Now keep in mind. This would only apply to the people and not congress.
I agree and if that’s what they’re really doing the people need to demand to know whey they’re doing it. What is the aim of trying to crash and burn the U.S. economy?
