Obama's Disastrous Interview About Hunting Osama bin Laden
The Campaign Spot at NRO ^ | 21 July 2008 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 07/21/2008 12:16:06 PM PDT by SE Mom

In his interview with CBS News, Obama says:

Logan: Because you do have a situation seven years on into this war where Osama bin Laden and all his lieutenants and all the leaders of the Taliban, they’re still there. And they’re inside Pakistan.

Obama: Right. It’s a huge problem. And first of all, if we hadn’t taken our eye off the ball, we might have caught them before they got into Pakistan and were able to reconstitute themselves. Several times in recent interviews, Obama has referred to "taken our eye off the ball" in terms of the invasion of Iraq, which began in March of 2003. We don't know precisely when Osama bin Laden entered Pakistan, but it is generally believed that he escaped Tora Bora and crossed the border sometime in late November or the beginning of December 2001.

(Somehow the U.S. took its collective eyes off the ball to prevent an event that occurred in December 2001 by sending troops to another country starting in March 2002 for an invasion that began in 2003.

It's not as if the geopolitical challenges of sending U.S. troops into Pakistan suddenly appeared in March 2003. Once Osama crossed the border, the potential cost of pursuing him —i.e., a civil war in a country with nuclear weapons — became higher and the consequences became riskier.

Also note that CBS' Lara Logan forces Obama to concede that his oft-touted call to kill Osama bin Laden in Pakistani territory is actually current U.S. policy. )

What an ignorant and condescending jerk. Every day he says something more ludicrous than before. He also said he might be president 8 or 10 years!?!? Stuck on blithering moron!
I absolutely DETEST Lord Obama.

It can't go on like this forever. I have to think there will be a backlash at some point from regular decent Americans...?? There has to be a breaking point.
**************************
You are not the only one completely disturbed by Obama’s big EGO TRIP overseas.

This is what I was thinking this morning: Americans have a very short memory. This trip is such an obvious PR stunt, you'd have to be blind to see it. If the MSM gets into bed any deeper with BHO, they are going to produce a love-child with him.
Anyway, this is only July 21st. The election is Nov. 21st. Seeing that BHO really doesn't have a clue about anything, obviously doesn't know history, etc. and is terrified of debates and open-question townhall meetings with McCain, what do you think is going to be happening for the next two and 1/2 months (which is an eternity in politics)?
What will BHO do? What will he do to top this big Ego Trip of his?
I believe that he is a megalomaniac and an adulation addict and he lives for praise from the masses, but is terrified of being questioned and examined up close.
Any thoughts? Does this trip represent the height of his glory days?

Well, the main stupid thing in this interview is that Obama is answering hypothetical questions. Bush rightly refuses to do that because they really serve no valuable purpose.

What an ignorant, ARROGANT and condescending jerk.

And don't you dare expect him to answer any questions he doesn't want to answer. The MSM wants to keep the secret that he is STUPID, inexperienced and a socialist.

ROFL! Perfect!

I swear, NO ONE COULD MAKE THIS STUFF UP. WHO in their wildest dreams, four short years ago would have believed ANYONE could come across with more condescension than Kerry?

Didn’t we think he was pretty much the pinnacle?

Hah! Never say never:)

No, but I would pay money to attend a Town Hall meeting between the presumptive candidates.

Just a microphone with attendees asking questions. No media to interfere,a time limit for answers, etc.

That’s nothing... I have a debate memory for ya.

Forget it, the bastard’s scrubbing the youtube videos.

Remember in a debate he was asked what if there’s another attack on America and you know who did it, what would you do? He compared getting Homeland more strong citing Katrina as example, then went totally tangent... without answering the question. You might as well say ‘police action’.

You would think the stinking, freedom loving democrats had something to say about these violations of our free speech rights.

If they haven’t said anything about mandatory conscription for the National Security Civilian Force, they’ll never speak up. Don’t bother to look, he scrubbed that too.

I guess I lost that video as well.

Goog GRIEF- it get’s worse. I was so bowled over by this post on the Campain Spot that I neglected to read THIS one from earlier in the day:

(Part of the same CBS interview)

Obama, speaking to CBS News, about Pakistan.

Obama: The United States has to take a regional approach to the problem. Just as we can’t be myopic and focus only on Iraq, we also can’t think that we can solve the security problems here in Afghanistan without engaging the Pakistan government.

Logan: How do you compel Pakistan to act?

Obama: Well, you know, I think that the U.S. government provides an awful lot of aid to Pakistan, provides a lot of military support to Pakistan. And to send a clear message to Pakistan that this is important, to them as well as to us, that I think — that message has not been sent.

(Jim G then says):

Ah. We have not sent a message to the Pakistani government that targeting Taliban and al-Qaeda is important. This will be surprising news to Khalid Sheik Muhammad, arrested by Pakistani authorities in Rawalpindi on March 1, 2003.

I’ve noted this earlier, but Obama remains absolutely convinced that the primary problem in taking on the Taliban and al-Qaeda is that the Pakistani government is insufficiently motivated, and that he will convince Musharraf, Pakistani Prime Minister Gallani, and the Pakistani government to take stronger action in the northwestern frontier regions. Obama will persuade Musharraf to take a tougher line on groups that have tried to kill him. Apparently bombs going off in their cities is insufficient to get the Pakistanis to crack down, but Obama’s threat to their aid package will.

At no point is the reliability or loyalty of the ISI or Frontier Corps mentioned as an obstacle

I don't why it continues to be said that by invading Iraq, we gave up the search for OBL. I sure our military can do both with equal perseverance.

When you realize that 2/3 of Americans are totally brain washed dunces and within that 2/3rds, most are liberal crazy cult worshipers, what can we expect. No breaking point for the mentally ill.
