Even if you offer Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., what shes been pushing for taxpayer investments in green or renewable energy shes not going to budge in her opposition to opening federal lands to oil and natural gas exploration. Talk about willingness to compromise.
MSNBC Morning Joe host Joe Scarborough asked Boxer July 21 about a hypothetical compromise with Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, in which Hutchison would agree to investment in renewable energies like wind and solar, and, and have the federal government get involved in a new type of Manhattan Project, if Boxer would agree to opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to drilling.
I dont think that you throw the Alaskan [Arctic] National Wildlife [Refuge] into oil drilling, Boxer said. You dont need to do it. If you look at whats in there, it would keep us going for six months when you can do so much more. I mean, with the acreage that is already in the oil companies hands. So, I think there are certain American values and you dont throw them away for something that is so obviously necessary.

I realize this is a rhetorical question, but what exactly do the Democrats EVER compromise on?
I’m ashamed that this thing is my senator... I’m sorry America but California just has too many liberals. Forgive us.
What a stupid twit she is. And, she is not alone.
Why doesn't someone refute this nonsense. 10 billion barrels are not going to be used up in 6 months.
The Dems think blocking drilling wins for them. Until they’re convinced they’ll lose seats, they won’t budge.
Republicans define compromising with Democrats as "giving them everything they want."
When your enemy is destroying himself, your best course is to stand back and let him.
Why is no one asking the real question ie if the site was set aside for drilling as a stupid compromise to lock up millions of acres for some wildlife refuge that it is now unacceptable?
Gee, I read somewhere over the weekend that California uses more gaoline than China. Could that possibly be true?
But back to Boxer and her other “9%ers” who are in that elite club of being a member of the 110th congress that have 91% of We the Peoples (us taxpayers) disapproving of what they’re doing.
What the 9%ers fail to comprehend is that other countries are going to be drilling off the coast of their beloved California and these other countries don’t have to get permission from anybody.
and pay for her own gas.
That’s more than the entire US uses in a year if my memory serves me correctly.
Nothing. That's for us to do.
Look its real simple. These socialists can not allow drilling to happen. Now or ever. Drilling would prove that they were lying to American citizens for the past 30 years and that they are the reason we are paying such high cost for gasoline.
LOL!
let the d’s keep the price of GAS high....this is a no wim situation for them....we may suffer now but the payoff should be a devastating election for the Anti-american Left. Even with Mccain this is going to be good for the R’s!
“If you look at whats in there, it would keep us going for six months when you can do so much more. I mean, with the acreage that is already in the oil companies hands.”
You’re right, Boxer, we can do so much more and we must. We should drill in ANWR and everywhere else that shows potential for crude production. It’s actually kind of silly to talk about ANWR so much as an individual thing. It has to be just one part of a massive drilling program, plus ASAP development of viable alternative energy sources (and I really think we need to end these biofuel from food crop programs).
I always suspected Ms. Boxer is black-hole stupid. Rejecting a proposal that would have given her everything she wanted confirms it.
And Dingy Harry would be cleaning out peepshow booths at an adult bookstore in Asbury Park.
Man...I sure hope you people in CA do a better job of electing representatives in Nov, because the current crop sucks.
Your Senator doesn't care if she's called an @$$hole, because she is, and must like it ... but as representative of you, the citizens of California, and adamant in an @$$hole position ... and you DON'T vote her out, YOU, dear souls become the defacto BIGGER @$$holes, and one can only assume you like it too.
A citizen of a commonwealth with my OWN @$$hole(s) to contend with.
Too bad.
Nice!
That's one of their one trick ponies to say it won't last but for six months. The truth is that 16 billion barrels at 1 million barrels per day would last 43 years and would reduce current import rates by about 10%.
Someone should point out to them that you cannot get 10-16 billion barrels of crude out of the ground in six months.
The agenda is:
Drive up prices till the public will accept “anything” to get relief
Nationalize the oil industry.
Use control of energy to force nationalization of transportation - especially airlines.
Divert the flow of dollars now going from US taxpayers to arabs into the coffers of the left (i.e., democrats)
Once they have control open up drilling, shale, coal and nuclear (with government control) and maintain prices as high as possible while touting themselves and AlGoreManiacs as saving of the planet. (You will be surprised how green carbon based energy will be found to be when they are reaping the rewards)
Simple!
Yeah, she’s “my” senator, too.
My mom went to DC and as part of her visit she went to see the Senate in session. She was mortified when the person next to her asked her who “that idiot was” after Senator Boxer got up and started speaking.

GREEN on the outside, RED on the inside.
Drill less, pay more. Thank a Democrat.
The dems have some type of sophistry playing out here.
I find it extremely difficult to believe they don't understand blocking drilling is a losing proposition in the upcoming elections
My gut tells me they are trying to find a way to wait until the very last moment to make a political move to snatch any sort of victory from the GOP and Bush / McCain right before the election.
So much for an open minded liberal. I had the displeasure of dealing with Barbara Boxer when she was involved in local politics. This is one angry liberal who hates anyone that disagrees with her.
I don’t think so. They think they’re picking up seats in both the senate and the house. Republicans need to be running adds.
She could redefine "San Francisco Treat"
Barbara Boxer is an idiot. A well-paid, wealthy, idiotic Democrat who is a total embarrassment for real-thinking persons in the state. I can’t wait for the time we can kick her a$$ out of office.
Boxer, Pelosi and Finklestien don’t want prices of gas to come down. California has a 7.5% tax on every dollar of gas that is sold. They loose money if prices come down. That’s what’s behind their refusal to allow more drilling.
One wonders how long the RATS can keep this up. I guess they know their voters are so stupid they will swallow anything but by now, even brain dead RAT voters SHOULD have caught on.
I’ve had it with these people standing in the way of energy development in this country. And that’s exactly what they are doing. The people of America need to wake up. Their Senators and Congressmen don’t represent their interests.
Ah yes, but what about your (my) other senator?
Oh, never mind.
Good point. Why are we doing meddling, when we ought to simply get out of the way and let these idiots hang themselves. One simply hopes we have the time to see this three-act tragedy to it's logical conclusion.
You maybe right, dems always overstep
Virtually every person I know thinks Congress needs to address the energy crisis and the overwhelming majority of them thinks drilling is a good place to start.
So let the dems block drilling it will cost them in the long run.
Republicans need to be running adds.
"We may be the stupid party, but at least we know when to drill"
“Barbara Boxer is an idiot.”
Only on a very good day, usually she is at the sub-idiot level.
..I can’t wait for the time we can kick her a$$ out of office.

Well since she and Diane F were both elected in 92, you had a chance in 98 and 04 but those two liberal fools are still hanging around...
Truth hurts.
If this Boxer piece of crap can become a U.S. senator, then that doesn't say much about the clones that constantly voted for her.
They base their “6 months” on the “proven reserves” (they haven’t allowed exploratory drilling so we are using old numbers), estimated as if we stopped using all other oil and just used the ANWR oil at 20 million barrels a day for 180 days. Note that is about 3.6 billion barrels of oil.
If in fact there are 10 billion barrels, it would last about 3 years if it was our only source of oil.
And of course, we are unlikely to get more than a million barrels a day out of it. Which means it will last, as you say, for decades.
This is a self-evidently stupid argument she makes. Someone should point out that we have major oil wells pumping in the THOUSANDS of barrels a day, that only have a few million barrels available, and wouldn’t last a day. So why are we pumping them at all?
This woman is a total fraud. The same goes for her ambulance chasing lawyer husband. It was bad enough when she lived in Marin County. Now, we have to put up with her face since she bought a home in Rancho Mirage (Palm Springs area).
Do not ever waste your time communicating with her if you are a California resident. I have witnessed her in action on US EPA Superfund matters. She accomplished nothing for the communities. It took a Republican Congressman to get legislation through Congress to help move the remediation forward. And guess who showed up for all of the publicity photos - her royal highness (or in her case, considering her height, shortness).
