My grandson is Autistic. I heard what Savage said. He is a pig and and anything to do with him should be stricken from this site.
If I could get hold of him I would personally whip his ass!
Our local AM host is saying that despite the hyperbole Savage is basically right, and that he probably mixed up autism and HDAD by mistake.
My cousin is autistic as well.
But Savage, in my opinion, is a genius when it comes to most issues.

My comments about autism were meant to boldly awaken parents and children to the medical community’s attempt to label too many children or adults as “autistic.”
Just as some drug companies have overdiagnosed “ADD” and “ADHD” to peddle dangerous speed-like drugs to children as young as 4 years of age, this cartel of doctors and drug companies is now creating a national panic by overdiagnosing “autism, for which there is no definitive medical diagnosis!
Many children are being victimized by being diagnosed with an “illness” which may not exist, in all cases. Just a few weeks ago doctors recommended dangerous anti-cholesterol drugs for children as young as 2 years of age! Without any scientific studies on the possible dangers of such drugs on children, corrupt doctors made this controversial, unscientific recommendation.
Increasingly, our children are being used as profit centers by a greedy, corrupt medical/pharmaceutical establishment. As the brother of a severely disabled person who suffered and died in a New York “snake-pit” of a “mental hospital,” I know first-hand what true disability is.
To permit greedy doctors to include children in medical categories which may not be appropriate is a crime against that child and their family. Let the truly autistic be treated. Let the falsely diagnosed be free.

It’s war on the autism front! Kick ass Dr Savage!!!! While he overstated his comments a bit, he is correct that it is overdiagnosed! RIGHT ON!!!
I was nearly pigeonholed with a diagnosis of autism when I was younger and I think Savage was pretty spot on in his analysis. Autism is real, “autism spectrum” is a load of crap pushed on people who don’t want to raise kids who are not the cookie-cutter kid.

I hear you. I wouldn’t have been tagged as autistic, but they would have nailed me with ADD and puit me on meds if they could back in the day if it was the popular thing in the 1970s. Thank goodness it wasn’t.
I always did very well in school but was bored out of my mind. They couldn’t peg me as deficient because I always did well on my tests, but didn’t fit the good student profile. I was bored, defiant, disrespectful when I was disrespected, and a bit of a troublemaker. All evidence of an IQ higher than my teachers, as well as a bad attitude! ;-)

Ritalin is a bad word now, but they have lowered the ages where one can diagnose valium, haldol, and prozac so the pharmaceutical companies are pushing to open new markets in the youth of America. Unfortunately the duped masses are looking for an excuse for their odd or normal children. Everyone wants to be “””special”””.
There has been a 10 fold increase in Autism diagnosis in the past few years. TEN TIMES! Even the CDC doesn’t understand!

2. The drug companies are looking to expand markets for old drugs like Valium, Haldol, and Prozac because they lowered the ages that can be prescribed.

Take your pick. I say number two is closer to the truth as the success of Ritalin has shown. Create a bogus disease or broaden the definition to create new markets is what is most likely.

I am sure he already knows this information. Glad someone has guts to take it on. I am amazed by the number of people here having autistic children by happenstance. Seems the drug companies have found a fashionable conduit to medicate our children.

I agree. Doctors are pill pushers these days. A pill for all your ills! I am on BP medication and right after I was diagnosed, I was on Lasix and a potassium supplement to get rid of some fluid that had formed in my feet, legs and lungs. After 2 months on the Lasix (and my other meds), I asked my doc about it, figuring I didn;t need it anymore. She looked at the scripts and agreed, and right away I was on 2 less meds.
I wish I knew more - who knows how my meds could (should) be adjusted if I had gone to medical school and knew wha I was talking about.
One has to understand the benefits by which doctors prescribe medications. There was a brilliant article on this recently that I will try to find. Follow the money.
I do not take prescription drugs, only if it’s an antibiotic and only for a couple of days, I had high blood pressure, well it was in the 130 range and “cured” it myself.....exercise, eating strawberries, etc. there are plenty of websites to give a lot of info about lowering BP, and any other ailement for that matter, I take matters into my own hands and only go to the doctor as a last resort for an ailement.........

I don’t buy the guest’s reaching for “causes”. She’s just speculating without citing any studies.
I’m glad she’s on, but OTOH, it is in the interests of these autism activist groups for as many people as possible to be diagnosed with autism.

I had a unique ability as a child to do math in my head quickly. I still can but for some reason I was only interested in the numbers, not the calculations. I was in my own world of numbers and would fill notebooks counting. Couldn’t get me interested in words to save your life. Sure I was odd, I was different, but I am far from autistic. Autism is a very rare yet unique disease that some parents want to wear as a badge of honor like their child is special. That is so demeaning to the parents of true Autistic children to think your unique child is somehow special and your bad parenting is not your fault. Generally speaking of course, and not pointed to you.
The medicated society clan (those that want your children medicated) is winning the bulk of America over by simple psychology. Everyone wants to be special and everyone wants an excuse for normalcy by being a part of something unique and larger than themselves. Sad.
