BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Conan O'Brien will take over the "Tonight" Show next June — and what happens to deposed host Jay Leno after that is anybody's guess.
Leno's last show will be Friday, May 29, and O'Brien will start the following Monday, June 1, NBC executives told a Television Critics Association meeting Monday.

I agree. I was a teen back then, but I remember Carson being so much better than Leno.
I used to like Letterman, but haven't paid attention to him for over 10 years.
Letterman's NBC run was brilliant; he resurrected the tradition of Steve Allen and added his own cynical, modern attitude.
Letterman earned the right Johnny's chair.
NBC blew it big time and Letterman has never been the same once his NBC chemistry was removed.
I remember one night with Bob Hope, George Gobel, and a third person.
Hope came out and stayed for the whole show like they used to in those days. Carson, Hope, Gobel, and possibly John Wayne sat there and talked about their lives and bantered back and forth. Man that was fun to watch.
These airheads today come on for one seven minute segment to hawk their next movie, and prove how shallow they can be.
These shows today are a major embarrassment by comparison.
“Question: Is there anybody who has a good, late night TV talk show?”
Not that I know of...like I said, late night TV died 5/22/1992...
” I remember one night with Bob Hope, George Gobel, and a third person?”
That “third person” was DEAN MARTIN!
Remember Dean flicking his cigarette ashes into ol’ George’s drink. LMAO
Letterman couldn't hold a match to Carson!
Letterman is about as funny as a rubber crutch!
Well, there’s Red Eye on FNC, if you have a high tolerance for gay jokes and potty mouth.....
It’s really late night for South Park fans.
lol
From bad to worse.
Conan is a grating, unfunny goof.
George Gobel, Dean Martin, Bob Hope, and Jimmy Stewart and smoking and drinking and having a blast. The clip is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByURvc0oLmk
A different era.
I used to watch Letterman a little but he turned way too left wing for me.
....and stopped being funny. His show was hilarious in the 80's.
None of those named are funny. They laugh at their own not-funny jokes and are loud. Another one who fits that bill although not late night is Joy Behar. Really not funny, laughs and looks around to give the laugh cue to all and is so grating and loud. She doesn’t even write her own jokes so her delivery is what is so bad. Ugh!
Very funny comic is Jim Gaffigan. And he doesn’t laugh at his own jokes and isn’t loud.
Seinfeld!
I’ve only seen a few minutes of late night talk shows in the last decade or more, but Leno is far better than Kimmel and O’Brien put together.
Whats the deal with produce
Do vegetables produce anything?
I watched Letterman for a few years on CBS. I was a Letterman fan until it became obvious he was such a dumba$$ leftist. He made a Bush crack (During the 2000 elections.) and I haven't watched him since. I only watched Leno a handful of times.
Conan is an idiot.

I'd watch a 30 minute Leno show about cars, on the Speed channel, if he had one.
I have tears in my eyes. What a group of gifted individuals.
Thank you!
I second Seinfeld!!!
I recently read DINO by Nich Tosches, which gave me a whole new perspective on Martin. My respect for him has skyrocketted since I read that entertaining book, and I suggest it to anyone interested not just in Martin but in how entertainment and celebrity has altered in the past few decades.
I partially agree with you.
Last Friday night, I actually stayed up long enough to see part of Conan O’Brien’s show.
It was freakin’ awful. The guy is not very funny. I really can’t picture myself watching the Tonight Show when O’Brien takes over.
Leno, on the other hand, is funny. He takes potshots at everyone and has a unique sense of humor.

Las Vegas Dave
Conan blows bigtime. Fallon will make Conan look like a genius and no one wants to tune into CBS to watch a rich and bitter old man, aka, Letterman.
If Leno goes to, let say to Fox, that’s where the audience is going too. Leno can name his price and Fox will pay it.
Letterman is just a bitter and rich old man. The change to NBC had nothing to do with this. For the first few years on CBS, things were fine. Now Dave’s old, married with a kid and still worried about his own mortality.
And I quit caring.
Conan is NOT funny.
I liked Carson and watched often. I only record Leno on Mondays to watch Headlines. Letterman hasn't been funny for years and his bits are very lame. Conan is unwatchable to me. At least Jay Leno is funny.
I agree totally. One thing tho’, I don’t believe Letterman ever married the mother of his child.
Stopped watching Letterman years ago also, watched Leno for a while, then stopped, but if forced to watch I’d choose Leno. Johnny Carson was the best!
You couldn’t pay me to watch Conan. Just his name alone grates on me.
Coincidentally (I’m not being sarcastic - this is really true), my work schedule changed drastically in June of 1992, and I have not seen much late night TV since.
I still think of Leno as “the new guy.”
I’m much more of an expert on early-morning radio these days.
Indeed, those were the "good old days"!

Sen. Sose (D.NY, Ill., Ark. Grifter; Devastated by her Obamamessiah):
"Jay, there are literally millions of (stupid) people who have never read a printed book.
You cannot believe, Jay, how many people I have met who have told me
that MY book is the FIRST BOOK they have ever read."
Agreed, one of the few who actually is funny.
I'd have to buy a Tivo if he did. I love his articles in Popular Mechanics. You can tell they're not ghost written, because they're in that same verbal style he uses.
LOL
If NBC had any brains, they’d air Johnny Carson reruns.
That’s because one corporation owns the talk show, the movie studios, and the television shows from whence the guests sprang. Everybody is there to do one thing - sell product.
Short of giving Leno “Meet the Press”, he’s not staying.
LMAO
They don’t make ‘em like that anymore...
rofl
conan will kill the tonight show DEAD
thank you for that....what a nice way to start the day...
That was great! I wish some of today’s pubbies would talk like that.
That's because those guys could be friends, whether they were or not. Each had his own style, his own schtick.
They were not all clones competing for the same (tired) market, and none of them needed a cussword to get a laugh.
