Obama: Why the Surge Worked: Ethnic Cleansing?
Hot Air ^ | July 21, 2008 | Allahpundit

“But,” asked Moran,”if the country had pursued your policy of withdrawing in the face of this horrific violence, what do you think Iraq would look like now?”

Obama said it would be hard to speculate. “The Sunnis might have made the same decisions at that time. The Shii’as might have made some similar decisions based on political calculation. There was ethnic cleansing in Baghdad that actually took the violence level down,” he said.

AllahPundit analyses Obama's latest flipping and flopping over the troop surge in Baghdad, in which BHO again tries to distance himself from success. (Good for him)

But the realy interesting part (quoted above), is from one of Obama's patented cover-up follow-up clarifications from the negative surge comments made on his trip.

However, rather than admitting that the surge worked, that the Patraeus plan worked, that American soldiers are and have been doing a great job... Obama would rather credit "ethnic cleansing" for the reduction in violence.

And there are actually sentient Democrats who think this guy should be president?

Why is a Senator being allowed to traipse around a war zone, negotiating treaties and troop withdrawals?

Oh, right, State wants the US to lose.

Your statement's basic ideas are mutually exclusive

Obama lives in his own little world where no one even suggests to him "What To Do"?

He speaks the words of a coward and a fool.

But more important, he speaks the words, not of a Commander and Chief, but the words of a dictator.

God Help Us!

I assume you are referring to the inclusion of the words “sentient” and “think” in the sentence.

The question should read: “And lemming-like democrats FEEL this guy should be elected president?”. But that question, of course, answers itself.

I don’t care if it’s Obama or McCain. Why are these people sitting down and listening to this guy. He’s not president yet, he’s nobody! This would be like me going over there and “negotiating treaties and troop withdrawals”

Obama proves an old Jpanese proverb, “Politicians use words the way squids use ink.”

To be a Democrat implies very little in terms of sentience.

I think of them more as carnivorous plants...

slick willie refused to allow Bob Dole to visit Bosnia during the presidential campaign.

While there was complaint from republicans, the media thought nothing of it. Can you imagine if President Bush refused to allow obie to visit Iraq and Afghanistan.

Just askin’

I heard the snippet of the interview on the radio that was quoted here. He stuttered and stammered like he hadn’t even thought of this question.

He is in Iraq and Afghanistan trying to increase his national security and foreign policy creds by basking in the glory of the success of the military efforts for which he did not and does not support. On his way home, just for leisure, he is going to coddle a few enemies that have made our work more difficult and dangerous.

What a scumbag...

So- cutting through the rhetoric- Obama thinks the surge had nothing to do with those “positive political developments” on which the libs always focus. He apparently believes this progress would have taken place if our troops were not there.

Conclusion- he’s a liar of the first order- or he’s utterly, frighteningly ignorant. With 300 foreign policy advisors, to boot..

The subtitle should be: "Obama preferred ethnic cleansing to 'surge' to reduce violence in Baghdad".

All I can say is: WTF?!?!

Just shows how utterly mean-spirited and petty he is. This is "Bush's war" so he will do his best to pooh-pooh any success.

Like all tin-pot executives with megalomania, Obama would like to have his own war, and he has picked Afghanistan.

Isn’t this basically a rewrite of the actual history of the surge. The introduction into Baghdad of more US troops in support of Iraqi troops stopped the ethnic cleansing by the Sadr militias who were beaten and then forced to disperse.

“There was ethnic cleansing in Baghdad”

This is the guy’s analysis of what happened in Iraq? Typical leftist thinking. There’s no such thing as American success, there must be something nefarious going on, like ethnic cleansing. He has no business being in the White House.

“Why is a Senator being allowed to traipse around a war zone”

A better question is, why is he a Senator? It’s like Bill Ayers being an education expert, or Jeremiah Wright being a minister.
