Sixteen people were wounded, one of them moderately, as a bulldozer driver went on a rampage in central Jerusalem Tuesday afternoon in an apparent attempt to recreate the terror attack in the capital earlier this month.
The vehicle reportedly left a construction site near Yemin Moshe neighborhood and set off towards Liberty Bell Park (Gan Hapa'amon), near the corner of Keren Hayesod and King David streets. It drove a distance of approximately 160 meters, attempting to overturn a bus and crashing into four other vehicles - one of which it flipped over. The man was then shot dead by a civilian and a border policeman.
The wounded were evacuated to hospitals in the capital.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said police sealed off possible escape routes into east Jerusalem and were searching for two suspects who fled the scene.
The attack took place in a busy part of downtown Jerusalem, several hundred meters from the luxury hotel where US presidential candidate Barack Obama is supposed to stay Tuesday night as he kicks off a visit to Israel.
The bus that was hit, No. 13, was of the same line of the one that was overturned in the previous attack.

"After I passed him he turned round, made a U-turn and rammed the windows twice with the shovel. The third time he aimed for my head, he came up to my window and I swerved to the right, otherwise I would have gone to meet my maker," he said.
Witness Moshe Shimshi said the driver, who was wearing a large, white skullcap commonly worn by religious Muslims, slammed into the side of the bus, then sped away and went for a car.
"He didn't yell anything, he just kept ramming into cars," Shimshi said.
The driver then headed for cars waiting at a red light "and rammed into them with all his might," he added.
Channel 10 TV said a mother and her baby were wounded. Israeli rescue services said they had evacuated one person whose leg was partially severed; Israel media said he was in the car that was overturned.
"This was another attempt to murder innocent people in a senseless act of terrorism," said government spokesman Mark Regev. "All people who believe in peace and reconciliation must unequivocally condemn this attack. Unfortunately, it is clear that we as a society will have to remain vigilant against terrorism."
Minutes after the attack, the driver, wearing shorts and black shoes, was sprawled backward in the construction vehicle's cabin, his legs dangling lifelessly.
On July 2, a resident of east Jerusalem rammed a bulldozer into cars, buses and pedestrians on one of Jerusalem's busiest streets, killing three people and wounding at least 45 others - including a six-month-old baby girl - before being shot dead by security personnel.
The attack began at noon when Husam Taysir Dwayat, a 30-year-old resident of the southeast neighborhood of Sur Bahir, drove out of a nearby light rail construction site and plowed his Caterpillar vehicle into anything and anyone, first on Rehov Sarei Yisrael and then on Jaffa Road, overturning a No. 13 Egged bus, flattening half a dozen cars and leaving destruction and carnage in his wake.

Seems like it’s getting harder to smuggle weapons in, so they have to resort to other means of terrorism. The Jew-haters like to refer to construction equipment as weapons because the Israelis use them to bulldoze terrorist recruitment centers. I don’t suppose they consider them weapons when used by terrorists themselves.

That’s a tractor.
It was a backhoe. A backhoe has a large scoop on the front and a bucket type scoop on the back. A bulldozer has a big pusher blade on the front that is used in a down position to push dirt, etc. A buldozer also has steel pads on the wheels. My hubby noticed that Fox corrected their mistake in their later mention of the story.:)
A backhoe is a farm tractor with a backhoe attachment. This one also has a loader scoop on the front for handling chicken manure.

The man was then shot dead by a civilian and a border policeman.... The first man to respond to the attack was Yaakov [Yaki] Asa-El, whose brother Amotz is a Jerusalem Post columnist. Asa-El, 53, a father of nine living near Mount Hebron. Asa-El fired the first shot at Abu Tir, and then the border policeman arrived and fired at the attacker from both sides of the bulldozer.

Right. Often called a front end loader backhoe.
A bulldozer on the other hand, has a large blade in front for pushing dirt, etc. So in the story it was called a bulldozer and it really was a type of backhoe. :)
I think the time has come for all Israeli businesses to refuse to allow any Israeli Arab to operate a bulldozer, backhoe, crane, etc., as it is obvious they will turn them into a weapon of mass destruction. If they have an ounce of sense here they will stop letting any Muzzie operate a piece of heavy equipment of any sort. Only Jewish Israeli’s should be allowed to operate them, no Arab Israeli’s. Nothing good can come of having a fifth column in one’s country (including in ours). If I were Israel, I would get all Arabs out of the country entirely. Can’t trust them, can one.
It would have steel tracks like a tank. Training tanks used on post might have rubber cleats on the tracks so they can go on pavement. There are no training bulldozers.

Yaakov Asael, a resident of the Susiya settlement in southern Mount Hebron is Tuesday’s hero. Asael shot and killed the terrorist who carried out the bulldozer attack in Jerusalem earlier in the day
Fifty-three-year-old Asael is an IDF reserves company commander, a father of eight, grandfather of six, and a teacher.
Ayelet Recanati, Asael’s daughter, told Ynet that her father is “resourceful.”
“He was a military man in commanding positions in combat units, in the armored corps,” she said.
“He is a bible teacher and an agriculturalist but has studied judo his whole life. He is a Jewish Israeli who combines the Torah and labor and tremendous politeness,” she said.
“He grasps things quickly, he has intuition regarding people and he most likely understood what was going on quickly,” she added. “He always carries a gun. For as long as I can remember him, he has carried a gun. Nowadays, a gun is needed everywhere, in Susiya, Jerusalem, Hadera and in Tel Aviv. As long as we don’t exude strength, we will need means of defense.”
The police reported said that the terrorist who carried out the attack injured 18 people before being shot to death. One victim sustained moderate to serious wounds. He was evacuated to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center. The rest were lightly injured and evacuated to the Bikur Holim, Hadassha Mount Scopus and Hadassah Ein Kerem hospitals. A baby was lightly wounded by shrapnel.

The first ‘bulldozer’ criminal was shot by an 18 year old soldier with a policeman’s pistol. Are these take-action persons one in a hundred? I think not. One in every two is more like it.
