Savage is a whack-job. He’s obnoxious, arrogant, perpetually angry, poorly reasoned, a lousy debater, manic-depressive, self-absorbed, and a general ass. He does more damage than good.

Exactly right. What's more, he's no conservative. But he's a psychological case study, and that's why I listen, and I suspect many others listen for the same reason. I have no evidence of it, but I suspect he's in poor health as well.

Back pre-9/11 I listened to Savage some and appreciated that he spoke out against illegal immigration long before 9/11 gave some more famous talk show hosts the cover and courage to speak out against it.

But he does cross the line too often. He seems to have a career death wish at times. Making those statements about autism is just nutty. Those statements can be made about ADD and probably be applicable in many cases, but I think he’ll find few who think than can be applied to autism.

I wish he’d get control of himself and eliminate the statements that can and will eventually cost him his career. He does say some things that need to be said that few others will say. but...

Why can’t they just embrace the diversity of thought

Di-longer you listen to Savage's thougths di-verse they become.

So let’s find a new medium for broadcasting the unvarnished, un-PC truth.

I will give him that he has an entertaining radio show. It is often amusing to see how quickly he goes from zero to “hang the traitors”.

The fact that Savage is usually right isn’t particularly relevant. Conservatism is an ideology based in reason, modesty and prudence. Savage stands on the shoulders of truly great conservative minds — Reagan, Buckley, Limbaugh, Bennett, Goldwater, Bork. He is entirely unworthy of their mantle.

He has the temperament of a member of Code Pink. He belittles those that disagree, offers poorly reasoned counter-arguments, and ends up shouting at them and hanging up. If I were a liberal, and wanted to establish a caricature radio show to paint conservatives in the least favorable light, I couldn’t think of a better example than Mike Savage.

For information and reasoned analysis — Rush, Levin, Bennett, Beck and even Hannity are a LOT better. Hell, I’d rather take a break and listen to Dr. Laura or Sports Radio than put up w/ Savage.

Like Air America? I am all for free speech, but the station has a right to do what is best for their profits.

“Savage” is a stage name. He’s anything but.

Manic-depressive, probably. Savage? Not.

I wish more stations would dump Savage. The man is an embarrassment and does nothing productive to promote conservative values. Even when I agree with him, I can’t stand him.

Regarding XM, paying to listen to the radio is crazy in my opinion.

Call me crazy but anyone who wants to listen to 3 minutes of music being interrupted by some moron DJ half way through it then 10 minutes of screaming advertisements I will take my XM and continuous music all day long.

Both are crazy.

I always hated listening to someone else's formula for a music radio station. None are worth a damned whether free or pay. When I want to listen to music, I listen to my own playlists. When I buy music, I pay only once, not multiple times to hear the same songs over and over. Yep, that is crazy in my book.

When I listen to talk radio, I want it live and free.

Every time I listen to Savage he only talks about wine and food he ate at a restaurant.

Savage didn’t make fun of children. He believes they are being damage by a false diagnosis.

Top Radio Talk Show Host
1) Rush Limbaugh
2) Sean Hannity
3) Michael Savage, Dr. Laura

I have listened off and on to Weiner since his first day on KSFO. He is unique in the way he (often but not always) can look at an issues. He always makes me rethink or develop new positions on subjects. I have not heard the autistic statement but knowing Savage I am sure he was mostly attacking the system that turns many kids into autistics.

Yes, I think his point is valid; that is to say, children are diagnosed with mental illness at a higher rate then ever in the country now, and most are on meds. He said 99%, not 100% - so he is saying there is such thing as real autism.

It is so much easier, isn’t it, to label and drug a child then deal for years trying to modify his behavior and attitude and perceptions. It’s just a lot of plain old exhausting emotional and physical work.

I like the fact that Savage is a bit of a wild card. He is brilliant and yet sometimes I can’t stand to listen to him
some days and turn him off. Of all the conservative talk show hosts Savage quotes and reads from the Bible more than anyone by far! He may be wacky at times but we definitely need his voice in the mix on the airwaves!

Making those statements about autism is just nutty.

I try to stay optimistic, but is there anything left in this country we can have a dissident opinion on? I feel sometimes as if I woke up in some sort of strange parallel universe where we lost the Cold War.

I agree. But he’s skirting too close to the edge of the cliff with some of these remarks. I hope he doesn’t tumble over the edge.

IMHO....he’s an ultra-liberal Jew who has found a gold mine by playing a loud mouthed conservative independent. I agree with most of what he says, but after looking into his past, I don’t believe for one minute that he’s genuine.....

Having said that, (and in spite of my wife’s protests) I find his show very entertaining.....

I will say that Savage has always had issues with the drugging of children. In his earliest live shows ("Name 'Em and Shame 'Em" & "Try 'Em and Fry 'Em"), Peter Breggin was a guest to talk about Ritalin and children.

I agree somewhat but having XM which I have on my Motorcycle I have more choice of stations with any kind of music I wish with no advertisements reception is great anywhere in the country as I travel and most have no DJs. Play lists might be good for you which you pay for also as I do for XM. mine is costing us about $18 a month for both units (one on the wife's bike also)we love it.
