There was a great playground in Raleigh that uses ground up rubber from old tires as the “sand.” It’s a very interesting recycling use. Slightly bouncy but doesn’t get everywhere like sand or wood chips.

There was a great playground in Raleigh that uses ground up rubber from old tires as the sand. We used to get the used asbestos they removed from buildings to play with in our sandbox. Sometimes, they threw in some fiberglass insulation material to make it more interesting.
It was really fun.
