Karadzic’s Arrest: Bosnian Myths Rehashed
Chronicles ^ | Srdja Trifkovic

Posted on 07/22/2008 1:01:16 PM PDT by Bokababe

.....Radovan Karadzic will be duly convicted of genocide and crimes against humanity, and he will not come out of jail alive. The verdict is already written, but it reflects a fundamental imbalance. It ignores the essence of the Bosnian war—the Serbs’ striving not to be forced into secession—while remaining mute about the culpability of the other two sides for a series of unconstitutional, illegitimate and illegal political decisions that caused the war.

The judgment against Karadzic at the U.S.-sponsored and largely U.S.-funded tribunal at The Hague will be built on this flawed foundation. It will be neither fair or just, and therefore it will be detrimental to what America should stand for in the world. It will also give further credence to the myth of Muslim blameless victimhood, Serb viciousness, and Western indifference, and therefore weaken our resolve in the global struggle euphemistically known as “war on terrorism.” The former is a crime; the latter, a mistake.

"Just like it was for OJ at his trial...?"

Unlike Karadzic, billions of dollars of international investment and international geopolitical strategy were not hinged on a specific outcome in the OJ trial.

Besides which, OJ was tried in the US, according to US laws, not at the kangaroo Hague.

The Hague is hardly a kangaroo court! Furthermore, Karadzic is a mass-murderer and a fascist. Good for everyone that he was finally caught.

Right. The Kangaroo Court of The Hague, where trials go on for a decade without a decision made. And like OJ, assuming a guilty verdict in a kangaroo court may surprise followers of the trial.

You know this because? You know Karadzic personally? You've read the evidence? Or are just a CNN junkie?

If you read the Countdown to 9/11, the links -- many of which are acknowledged by US intelligence agencies, including The Golden List of al Qaeda donors found in Bosnia and dated three years before the Bosnian war began-- what happened in Bosnia looks very different today than it did at the time.

The Serbs are always absorbed with self-victimization. Richard Holbrooke spoke tonight on this and the barbarity of the Bosnian Serbs as they massacred thousands at Srebrenica (TV newscast tonight even had video of this crime occurring — horrible to watch).

Anyone who apologizes for this monster is truly insane.

I said it before and I'll say it again -- Holbrooke's got more Balkan blood on his hands than all the Balkan war criminals combined. Holbrooke is a piece of crap, bought and paid for with narco-sex slaving money.

Having a good laugh with a KLA arms smuggler who used US gun laws against us to start a war.

Hanging out with the results of his work.

Holbrooke belongs behind bars for getting us involved in sponsoring terrorists that came back to bite us!

"The Serbs are always absorbed with self-victimization"

And who taught you that little ditty? CNN?

James Harff was Director of the Washington-based PR firm Ruder Finn Global Public Affairs. He directed the company's efforts in representing the Yugoslavian republics seeking to secede: Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo (Albanians).

Memorable Quotes:

Harrf: For 18 months, we have been working for the Republics of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as for the opposition in Kosovo. Throughout this period, we had many successes, giving us a formidable international image. We intend to make advantage of this and develop commercial agreements with these countries. Speed is vital, because items favourable to us must be settled in public opinion. The first statement counts. The retractions have no effect.

Merlino: How often do you intervene?

Harff: Quantity is not important. You have to intervene at the right time with the right person. From June to September, we organized 30 meetings with the main press agencies, as well as meetings between Bosnian officials and Al Gore, Lawrence Eagleburger and 10 influential senators, among them George Mitchell and Robert Dole. We also sent out 13 exclusive news items, 37 last-minute faxes, 17 official letters and eight official reports. We placed 20 telephone calls to White House staff, 20 senators, and close to 100 to journalists, editors, newscaters and other influenctial people in the media.

Question: What achievement were you most proud of?

Harff: To have managed to put Jewish opinion on our side. This was a sensitive matter, as the dossier was dangerous looked from this angle. President Tudjman [of Croatia] was very careless in his book "Wastelands of Historical Reality". Reading this writtings, one could accuse him of of antisemitism. In Bosnia, the situation was no better: President Izetbegovic strongly supported the creation of a fundamentalist Islamic state [there] in his book "The Islamic Declaration". Besides, the Croatian and Bosnian past was marked by a real and cruel anti-semitism. Tens of thousands of Jews perished in Croatian camps. So there was every reason for intellectuals and Jewish organizations to be hostile towards the Croats and Bosnians. Our challenge was to reverse this attitude. And we succeded masterfully.

At the beginning of August 1992, New York Newsday came out with the affair of [Serb] concentration camps. We jumped at the opportunity immediately. We outwitted three big Jewish organizations - B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee, and the American Jewish Congress. We suggested to them to publish an advertisement in the "New York Times" and to organize demonstrations outside the United Nations.

That was a tremendous coup. When the Jewish organizations entered the game on the side of the [Muslim] Bosnians, we could promptly equate the Serbs with the Nazis in the public mind. Nobody understood what was happening in Yugoslavia. The great majority of Americans were probably asking themselves in which African country Bosnia was situated. But by a single move we were able to present a simple story of good guys and bad guys, which would hereafter play itself. We won by targeting Jewish audience. Almost immediately there was a clear change of language in the press, with the use of words with high emotional content, such as "ethnic cleansing", "concentration camps", etc., which evoked images of Nazi Germany and the gas chambers of Auschwitz. The emotional charge was so powerful that nobody could go against it.

Merlino: But when you did all of this, you had no proof that what you said was true. You only had the article in "Newsday"!

Harff: Our work is not to verify information. We are not equipped for that. Our work is to accelerate the circulation of information favorable to us, to aim at judiciously chosen targets. We did not confirm the existence of death camps in Bosnia, we just made it known that "Newsday" affirmed it.

Merlino: Are you aware that you took on a grave responsibility?

Harff: We are professionals. We had a job to do and we did it. We are not paid to be moral.

— James Harff, Director of Ruder Finn, Global Public affairs section, in the Jacques Merlino interview, April 1993. (reprinted in a book in Oct. 1993)

Holbrooke is an extremely biased source and the videotape that was shown was most probably the tape of a group of militia fighters conducting executions many miles away from Srebrenica (at least that is the only video tape that I am aware of which shows actual executions that are alleged to be linked to Srebrenica). However, the link between the tape and Srebrenica is very weak since the executions on the tape took place many miles from Srebrenica and some of the roads between were in enemy hands.

Holbrooke called Serbs "murderous assholes". The fact that this racist claim something does not make it true. Especially having in mind his role in creating Balkan Slaughterhouse. Under Neremberg criteria, Holbrooke is guilty of crime against peace, the same as like Nazis on trial.

His assessment of Serbs as a people is known as projection in psychology.

The fact that you enjoy to quote a racist and unindicted war criminal does not make his claims more factual either.

I do not know what your personal demons are, but I pray for you.

See what I mean, Androcles? The pro-Serb Nazis are spouting off, as usual. Fortunately, the rest of the world knows them for what they really are. And perhaps even the Serbian government is waking up to the fact that they must make amends for their crimes in the 90s — hence their arrest of Karadzic this week.

"Pro Serb Nazi" is not only an oxymoron, it is an insult to the memory of almost one million Serbs who were Nazi victims and an act of Nazi revisionism.

Liberals throw terms Nazi and genocide as a smear bombs, without any moral responsibility and respect to the victims of Nazism and eagerly support the policies of successors of real Nazis and their agenda.

Serbs mounted the first armed resistance movement against Nazis, while the rest of Europe eagerly joined Waffen SS.

DURING WWII BOSNIA WAS A SITE OF NAZI GENOCIDE OF SERBS AND JEWS, PERPETRATED BY CROATS AND BOSNIAN MUSLIMS. Nazi revisionists attempt to rewrite history and paint Nazi victims as perpetrators and Nazi criminals and victims.

When it comes to the Balkan issues, Nazi revisionists have a free rein.

That's what the lies about Srebrenica are all about - an attempt to hide the real genocide, the genocide of Serbs and Jews.

On Free Republic, they got easily exposed. You should learn this by now.

Ah, yes, all the dhimmis and Dhimmwits are coming out of the woodwork. It’s a wonder that Ronly Bonly Jones doesn’t concoct a new screen-name and join the fray!

If you all live in our near a major US city, there is probably a large fifth-columinist mosque in the heart of it, spewing anti-Serb, anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, and anti-American lies and financing jihad all over the world. muslim “Bosnia” is that mosque, writ large. Many Al Qaeda jihadists won their stipes in “Bosnia”, fighting the Christian Serbs. Then they came and attacked us.

Holbrooke, Albright, Samantha Power, Christianne Amanpour, the kangaroo persectors of the Hague, clinton, Daniel Fried, and all the rest are islamist enablers. Anyone who believes them is a Muhammadan dupe or shill, or worse!!!!

Read the article by Srdja Trifkovic—it contains the truth about Bosnia. Don’t believe the New World Order (globalist) and Muhammadan lies!!!!

Don’t you know how this works... Every Balkan thread follows the same pattern. One of them pings all of the other Serbs, and they attack any and all dissent, like pirahnnas... Deny every single thing the Serbs are ever accused of... And ride the wave of anti-Mus wave, in their favor, to suit their political purposes... Look how they treat this obvious sKum war criminal... The monster that beat up the guy in the bar... Same old pattern... They convince many FReepers who ride the Islami hate, but many other Freepers see them for what they are... Serb apologists, who exist here for that sole reason, apologize for them no matter what... Do yourself a favor, see where else the great majority of these folks add value on FR... By and large they don’t... They just lurk here... Flame away..

Serbia’s history and national identity is wrapped up in Kosovo. It also symbolizes their thousand year fight to retain their Christian faith in the face of the Ottoman Muslim invasion. So, it is sacred to the Serbs in a similar way to the way in which Jerusalem is sacred to the Jews.

Have you had anyone explain the history of Serbia. The Kingdom of Serbia was originally centered in Kosovo and they lost their freedom to to the Ottomans in a battle which occurred in Kosovo. Most of their oldest monestaries and Churches some of which date back almost a thousand years (some possibly more) are found in Kosovo. As American’s we don’t have all that many centuries of history so it doesn’t mean as much to us. However, I love history so I can understand in part how the Serbs feel.

So, selling out Kosovo (the soul of Serbia) so that it can join the E.U. which is run by a bunch of progressive huminist internationalists would be good for Serbia?

The myth of Kosovo as being terribly important to Serbian national identity was mostly a propaganda piece for the Milosevic government. Belgrade, and the surrounding Serb heartland, is the center of Serbian intellectual, cultural and economic life, and has been for centuries. Serbs have been leaving Kosovo for generations. No Serb in his right mind wants to live in that backwater, poor country surrounded by a cranky ethnic group who hates their guts.

One thing I've noticed is there is a big dichotomy between Serbs living abroad and those living in Serbia proper (especially Serbs in Belgrade): the Serbs abroad have mythologized and romanticised the breakup of Yuogoslavia and have been very eager to encourage Serbs in Serbia to keep dying for those myths, while remaining safe and prosperous in the West. Serbs in Serbia, however, have had to actually live with the consequences of their government's wars and they're not eager to keep ruining their childrens' future to make foreign Serbs happy.

Its sad that so many people will sell out everything for the almighty dollar

Yeah, because spending two decades chasing myths and propaganda has worked out so well for the Serbian people: a ruined economy, ruined relations with many of their neighbors, Serbia declared an international pariah, getting bombed by NATO etc. Like I said, maybe some people are happy to see the Serbs continue to suffer for their own delusions of the importance of Kosovo, but I think the better course of action for the Serbian people is to dump these fantasies and focus on creating a stable, peaceful prosperous future for their children.

Because the importance of Kosovo is mostly a romantic myth. Before this conflict started, there were maybe 200,000 Serbs in Kosovo- about 10% of the population. Most Serbs have no interest in living in Kosovo.

What I don't get is... why they'd want to hold onto a land that's 95% non-Serb... It would essentially be a welfare state, where there'd be nothing but conflict... Imagine the blood that would continue to be spilled there... Imagine the huge costs to maintain an army and the cost in terms of soldiers... I maintain that most Serbs, when they weigh the cost of holding onto a land that has no natural resources (except the Trepka mines), and has all of that turmpoil, wouldn't have the desire, or appetite to stay... Like the Israelis ceding Gaza, it's more trouble than it's worth...

Until now, they've blamed their plight on being held down by the Serbs... Let them succeed or fail on their own... Just like the Palis, once you take away their main excuse, either they produce or falter on their own... the world has some sympathy for folks who have nothing but don't have the means to get ahead... when those barriers are removed, and you still fail, hey, that's your fault... Methinks that an unemployment rate of 20% - 40% says a lot about the mind-set of the populace... It's a rats-nest, and not sure why you'd want to control that, at a huge cost...

JMHO

Exactly what I just wrote... It's all a myth... if you took a poll, and presented the facts to them -the true cost, the deaths that would be incurred, the lack of natural resources... I'd bet most Serbs would say, good riddance, just give us the North and part of Treppka.

In my heart, I believe the Serbs want closer western ties... they want to move forward, like the Croats and Slovenes have done...
