Over half of American voters (51%) now believe the United States and its allies are winning the war on terror, the highest figure recorded in nearly four years by Rasmussen Reports in a nationwide survey.
Only 16% now think the terrorists are on top, while 27% view it as a stalemate. Prior to this week’s survey, the number who believe the terrorists are winning had never fallen below 20%.
Last July, just 36% thought the U.S. and its allies were winning. At that time, an equal number—36%--thought the terrorists were ahead.
Other indicators in the survey also show that Americans have growing confidence that things are looking up in the war on terror.

Nancy Pelosi is deeply saddened.
Forty-two percent (42%) now think the situation in Iraq will improve over the next six months. That’s up from 37% a week ago and 23% a year ago.
Only 23% now expect things to get worse in Iraq, down from 49% last July.
The gap also is narrowing dramatically between those who think history will judge the war in Iraq as a success – 36% now – versus those who think it will be viewed as a failure (39%).

Pondering Point: I would suggest that the left exudes self-loathing because deep down inside they lead very troubled lives. Because they reject timeless moral values and the source of those values, their lives are full of moral chaos. This is projected out into hatred for every benefit that flows from those values and hatred of people who live those values and advocate them.
As a consequence, we are seeing attempts by the left to tear down the prosperity and power that has accrued to the US.
What other conclusion can one come to when, for example, the left insists we must reduce so-called “greenhouse gasses” and only use sources of energy that are “sustainable”, and yet they do not cheer advances in biotech that give us algae-based biofuels that exactly address both demands? The left obviously wanted something else all along.
That something else, meaning suppression of US energy use, is a direct way to destroy our personal and collective prosperity and power.

Polls measure the main stream media’s deviation from reality. Not the substance of the question.
Polls measure the American public’s captivity to the MSM’s deviation from reality.
To the extent the American public stops listening to the news reports in between the music on FM radio, and stops reading the AP stories on the front page of their local newspaper, and begin looking up news information for themselves, polls will better reflect reality and the substance of the question.
No Pelosi is not saddened. Now she and the Dems, especially the haloed one, can say “It’s time to move on to the important matters like universal helth care, universal government largesse, taxing the rich to make life fair, and on and on.Without the GWOT what does McCain use to counter the free lunch the Dems will promise?
