SDEROT, Israel (Reuters) - U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said on Wednesday a nuclear Iran would pose a "grave threat" and that the world must stop Tehran from obtaining an atomic weapon.

Obama told reporters during a visit to Israel that if elected, he would take "no options off the table" in dealing with the Iran issue and said tougher sanctions could be imposed.

"A nuclear Iran would pose a grave threat and the world must prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon," Obama told reporters after visiting the Israeli town of Sderot, which lies close to the border with the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.

Mr Obama made two contrasting statements about Iran May 2008.

"I mean think about it. Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don't pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us…You know, Iran, they spend one one-hundredth of what we spend on the military. If Iran ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn't stand a chance."

A day later, Mr Obama felt obliged to offer the following clarification in Montana:

"Iran is a grave threat. It has an illicit nuclear program. It supports terrorism across the region and militias in Iraq. It threatens Israel's existence. It denies the Holocaust..."

“....a nuclear Iran would pose a “grave threat”

Obama:

Grave threats are not as easily charmed, as talentless LeftJournalists and sheltered, idealistic college students, by your empty rhetoric and measured pauses when reading from the teleprompter.

Admit it, your policy for dealing with “grave” nuclear threats is simply appeasement accompanied by the old:

“Stop, or I’ll say “Stop” again”

He has already ruled out using Nucs,,under any circumstance. They may be necessary to tame Iran’s program or retailiate against a WMD attack on Israel.

"I think there are opportunities for us to mobilize a much more serious regime of sanctions on Iran, but also to offer them the possibility of improved relations to the international community if they stand down on these nuclear weapons."

Let me be clear about this: Obama’s policy on Inran (a small country) is to maintain a difference between the policies of the Bush adminstration and those of a nearly similar McCain leaning that will lead to a certain language of diplomacy and hope in an effort to postpone any terror effort than might bleed over from Afghanistan.

Obama really reminds me of Kerry.

He's arrogant, flip flops, doesn't want to reveal his "plans" until he's elected and most of all he's faking it. He is in way over his head. Just like Kerry he is hoping no one will notice he has faked his way through his political career.

Obama ? what about the talks you wanted to talk with them about ?
Talks about " we need Change for a change " talks, and then some more talks to see if they really want to talk some more before they can really really talk with you for some more talks, before you put the sign on America's backside saying " KICK ME ".

Notice that he’s in Israel. On top of his habit of speaking words that the people he’s with want to hear (and, in this case, the relatives of those he’s speaking with), I’m sure that some Israeli officials let him know in no uncertain terms that they’d wipe Iran and every other Arab nation off the face of the Earth and bomb the Saudi, Kuwaiti, etc. oil fields if Israel is nuked - which will result in $20.00 per gallon gasoline. Even the Obamessiah understands that this would hamper his ability to spend money on a myriad of social programs, so that means that Iran is a “grave threat.”

Notice how ? when his chances of becoming President become more real each day, that the pimple he one said of Iran: " was just a small threat " gets bigger and bigger as it gets closer to election day ?
He is just trying to appease the war hawks who can be fooled by him.
Just more pandering to the security moms also..... the sad thing is, he has them already fooled by his other rhetoric.
Stupid sheeple should not vote, but, hey, this is a free country.

" Notice that he’s in Israel. "
Pandering and trying to buy the Jewish vote.
After he is elected, he'll go to a Islamic country and tell the folks " We need to stand firm against Israel, Zionism, American Imperialism, and American World Dominance "

So what is his policy towards Iran? Anyone confused about it?

Sounds like he's channeling President Bush:

In a stern warning to Iran, President Bush said "all options are on the table" if the Iranians refuse to comply with international demands to halt their nuclear program, pointedly noting he has already used force to protect U.S. security."
