He needed “gravitas” and it is legal to hold fundraisers overseas so long as it is only US citizens living abroad who are contributing. As of last month, McCain had around $350,000 that was raised largely in London while Obama had over $1.5million raised overseas BEFORE this tour.
Bernie Goldburg got it right on FOX last night. It's the images that he is after. The words will be forgotten, but the images stick in people's mind. Images of vast adoring crowds around the world. Ahhh...they will love us again if we just elect obama. Images of obama hugging foreign leaders, Ahhh...he's a statesman. Images of obama with our troops. Ahh....he'll be a great CIC. See, the troops love him. Images that will be plastered all over every manner of media from now until Nov. Rectch.
