Skip to comments.'Airplane!' Director Eyes Michael Moore - (new conservative comedy blasting Michael Moore)

The comedy director who gave us such immortal movie lines as Oh stewardess, I speak jive and Dont call me Shirley is now leveling his sights at documentary filmmaker Michael Moore.
David Zucker, the director and writer who helped create Airplane! and The Naked Gun franchise has called on Hollywoods tiny but tightly knit Republican A-list crowd to help him make a broad yet unusually right-leaning political satire titled An American Carol.
The low-budget indie co-stars Emmy winner Kelsey Grammer with Oscar-winner Jon Voight, cinema icon Dennis Hopper, model-heiress Paris Hilton and frequent Zucker stooge Leslie Nielsen in minor roles. Release is planned sometime by years end; the director suggested Friday, Sept. 12, to coincide with the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Zucker and his associates have been keeping the film under fairly tight wraps for months. When hyping the usual casting updates to showbiz trades, those associated with the production would only describe the movie as a spoof of A Christmas Carol and contemporary American culture, avoiding any mention of its political perspective.
Zucker had, however, mentioned the project to a handful of reporters and talk radio hosts, telling one columnist at the Wisconsin State Journal, It outdoes any movie I have ever done in tasteless, offensive, un-PC humor.

I love David Zucker. He’s one of five conservatives left in Hollywood.
where do i get tix!!!!
I haven’t been to a movie in many years but that may change now....
Don’t look for him or anybody connected with this movie anywhere near the red carpet enterance to the Oscars.
Well, Michael Moore’s about as big as an airplane.
He also made a humorous campaign ad in 2004.
Dennis Hopper, a conservative? Great cast, and a must see!
kelsey grammer is my 2nd favorite actor on the planet. i will definitely see this film when it comes out.
Yep. Dennis Hopper’s been a conservative for the past 20+ years. After he cleaned up from his substance abuse problems.
I think he was already a conservative by the time he made Colors about LA gang wars.
It was an absolutely hilarious spoof on Kerry's constant flip-flopping.
Excellent. I recall my first Hopper sighting in Easy Rider at the neighborhood theater.
I think Kelsey plays the president in this movie “Swing vote” that is coming out soon. The uncharismatic Kevin Costner plays a guy whose one vote will decide the whole election. Hard to believe the movie won’t tilt to the left but I would hope with Kelsey in it the film will be balanced. Not that I plan to see it anyway.
Paris Hilton is on our side? That’s not good, unless she is willing to spend millions on a 527 perhaps.
I never was a Dennis Hopper fan til I found out he was a conservative. Robert Duvall is another.
Skeet surfing has been my favorite sport ever since.
"How do we know you're not Mel Torme?"
sounds like a must-see.
james woods is another one i believe.
... me too, the last movie i went to was some Bat Man movie about some Joker.
Need you ask?
Where can I obtain advance tickets?
Oh yes James is another favorite of the right though he might not be much of a social conservative. Dennis Miller also.
Bruce Willis is a Republican though I don’t think he advertises it much lately. Drew Carey is another libertarian conservative type. Then there are the “GOP babes” whose pictures someone compiled on the web. Besides Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin and the talking heads, that list included actresses like Janine Turner and Bo Derek.
The whole movie was awesome. I laughed till I cried at the scene where the people land on the giant pigeon statue and piss on it, and it takes a huge dump after they take off.
james woods is another one i believe.....
Yes....Along with Tom Selleck.
We need to post the “short list “ of all conservative actors.....
And who can forget:
Take him to DETROIT!
Excellent. It’s about time.
Timed to come out prior to the election too, lol.
Isn’t there a law against that.
Breaking News: NYTimes will not publish ads for tickets.
Some conservative musicians who are not afraid to let people know...Ted Nugent and Charlie Daniels.
The only movie worth seeing in the last three months is “Mongol”. As soon it gets nearby I’ll see it. Nothing from Hollywood sucks me in any more. No surprises anymore. I can predict most of the plot twists and many of the plots are re-dos. The actors are boring and don’t become the characters
Christian Bale was great in “Shaft” but I refuse to be bored by a Batman movie. I’m too old for that garbage
It outdoes any movie I have ever done in tasteless, offensive, un-PC humor.
Go for it Mr. Zucker!
I hope your movie is good and funnny enough to become known as: The “Blazing Saddles” of the 21st Century.
NO!!!! Not that!!!!Anything but detroit!!!!!
There, I fixed it...my husband wants to watch Airplane every time it comes on TV, LOL! Fortunately, I designed our house with a living room with a TV and what we refer to as the "ball room"...a 14 X 27 room where the guys hang out, play video games and watch sports that has 3 TVs...so we don't argue any more about what to watch.
I saw something about this movie. Wasn't that the gist of an old Popeye cartoon? Talk about lack of originality...
Hopefully for him this will be easy. It’s not like there’s a shortage of material for him to use.

“(new conservative comedy blasting Michael Moore)”
Like shooting fish in a barrel, but I like it!!
He and his brother had their offices in the same building where I worked....nice guy who loved to shoot the breeze about his electric car, which was his passion at the time.
All he had to do was film ONE day at the Capitol filming Dimocraps in Washington to make this movie.
...is no longer around to play Mikey.
I saw “Mongol”. Great cinemetography, costumes, good acting. As for the history, they got the camels right.
You've never seen Team America! Awesome theme song.
