McCain to counterprogram Obama in Germany with visit to Gulf Coast oil rig
Politco ^

Posted on 07/23/2008 11:53:37 AM PDT by Blue Turtle

While Barack Obama is speaking about international affairs in Germany before thousands of fans tomorrow, John McCain will be talking about a pressing domestic issue with an equally striking if very different backdrop.

Weather permitting, McCain will helicopter from Louisiana to an oil rig in the Gulf Coast to make the case for expanded off-shore drilling, says a McCain aide.

Its a freakin start McCain. Now, counter the diss LaRaza dealt you, and change your position on illegal immigration and Global warming.

If you do, I will vote for you.

rush called it Monday...

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_072108/content/01125109.guest.html

Rush- It's just sickening. All the while, what remains the big issue? The big issue in people's minds is $4-and-rising a gallon gasoline. And now when people figure out that members of Congress are planning on tacking on an additional dime federal tax to a gallon of gasoline, Senator McCain should fly out to an oil rig ASAP; point out how environmentally safe they are. Go fly to ANWR. Go to a nuclear power plant; brag on the technology. Go to the newest clean-burning coal plant in the country, brag about that. I think that Senator McCain, with the backing of Republicans, ought to start talking down the price of oil. Draft legislation, give some speeches, make sure they have photo-ops every day that Obama is on this European vacation that demonstrates where our priorities should be.

This is a good idea. With the pressure that has been on the media the last few days, they might actually cover it.

He improved a little bit on the LaRaza/Border security front. He stressed before LaRaza, to their dismay, that secure borders are a prerequisite to discussing a solution for the illegals here, and said that he wouldn’t vote for his own amnesty bill now, realizing that the people oppose it. It’s politicians words... I know, but it’s a little start and certainly better than Obama’s “well grant you citizenship and stop the ICE terror”.

Yea he should go here http://lovelace.ucsd.edu/Ted/Arcticwild/Kristof/10KRIS.html(story link died):

"One of the Eskimos, Bert Akootchook, angrily told me that if environmentalists were so anxious about the Arctic, they should come here and clean up the petroleum that naturally seeps to the surface of the tundra."

McCain should go stand on these areas where oil is 'naturally' 'polluting' the area.

Rush on Monday:

RUSH: The idea that this trip, that anything on this trip is going to change his views, not just Iraq, but in the world, his worldview in favor of appeasement and truth be known, this guy is an isolationist, in the sense that he will only deploy diplomacy and nothing else, this is ridiculous. This is a sham, and we're being distracted by it. This whole thing is nothing more than an orchestrated circus when what's still on everybody's mind is gasoline, gasoline, gasoline, and four dollars. This is why, were I McCain, you know where I would be this week? I would be out on an oil rig. I would take the Drive-Bys with me, and I would point out how environmentally safe they are, and I would show how damned impressive they are, as well as the workers. Then if I were McCain I'd fly up to ANWR and I'd take a crew with me, and I would propose drilling with the caveat that once it's done, it will be restored to the desolate nothing that it is now. There are jobs to be had up there. If I were McCain, next I would go to a nuclear power plant, and I would brag on that technology and the non-CO2 output. Have a bill in hand to cut red tape. These are jobs we're talking about being created, building new nuclear power plants.

From there I'd go to the newest clean burning coal plant that he can find in the country and brag about that. Have bill in hand to cut red tape to build these plants new. These are jobs. Energy is what's on the American people's mind. Four-dollar gasoline is on people's minds. This Obama thing is a pure, unadulterated sideshow.

Good move from McCain, but he needs to keep it up. The Obama tour ends this week and then we have over three months to election. The tour will be a faded memory by November with only Obama’s incoherent “policies” left.

Really, if McCain would get smart, dump the Democrat BS like ALgores man made global warming joke,( he could say he was duped), I don’t care. Burn LaRaza for burning him, he would get conservative votes.

He does not know what he is missing. He is missing conservative fire and energy for idiotic, lying, liberal policies that we all know are folly.

Sad really.

If McCain were smart -— ??? -— he’d take the energy issue and shove it down Obama’s throat.

Instaed of sitting around waiting to react to Obama’s next move, McCain needs to set the agenda of the campaign, before its too late.

Johnnycap, I think somebody was paying attention!

What McCain should do while Obama is away is dedicate each day to a different form of energy. Oil, then Solar, then Clean Nuclear, then Wind Power, then Hydro Electric...and then at the end of each day, he should say, while Obama is somewhere in the middle east conferring with his Palestinian friends, we are here making sure you have gas in your tank. America First!! (I love it...shame him into going overseas and then slam him for doing it!)

The MSM will turn this into a negative for McCain. “He is in the bag for big evil oil”. They will have pictures of the CA oil spill with oily seals. No actual pictures of McCain the rig. Just watch. It is good news to us...but the DB’s will kill it.
The weather isn’t very good for this timing. The storm may spread out and cause rain and no visibility.
