Hollywood's Carbon Footprint: Celeb Mag Slams Celeb Enviro-Hypocrisy

Usually, celebrity magazines gush over celebrities, from what they're wearing to the stupid political causes they pimp.

But I must hand it to Us Magazine. While the glossy celebrity tabloid is guilty of featuring a several-page spread in its July 28th issue, with quotes and essays from myriad celebs telling us what they do to be green, Us does devote almost a a full page at the end to slam them for their hypocrisy.

I believe it's TMZ, which has no prob slamming and dissing celebrity hypocrisy, for pushing Us and other magazines to tone the drooling down a notch.

Here's the Us Magazine "Hollywood Carbon Footprint" analysis, followed by its "Eco-Hypocrites Hall of Shame." The mag forgets to include studios and the energy they use to make shows and movies in its footprint comparison:

Rush said today that California uses more gas than any other country in the world...besides the US.

Any FReepers out there have any idea what your average movie theater uses in kilowatts and heating and cooling to show a typical 2.5 hour movie?

I'd love to put a pencil to how much energy we could save by cutting a few propaganda hours out each day.

That’s probably true. Most of it is spent idling in traffic. As for Hollywood’s footprint, most films aren’t even shot here anymore. The studios are virtual ghost towns. Better check New Zealand, Canada and the Baltics.

California would use a lot less if you eliminated the illegal immigrant drivers, the welfare roll drivers, the drug dealer drivers, and all the government workers (Fed & State) who have full time access to a free SUV with petrol courtesy of the taxpayers.

We have a lot of filming here in Wilmington NC. You should see all the vehicles and trailers with the AC running all day so the delicate geniuses do not have a bead of sweat on their little necks!

Still trying to puzzle out this 20 billion gallon number — it’s just not panning out in state tax reports, which only support about a 10 billion gallon number.

Still, we use a lot of gasoline, diesel, etc - plenty of trains, ships and airplanes to go with our zillion busses and cars and major shipping companies.

And all the forest fires and wild fires each and every year in California.

We need a California Wild-Fire forecast each year, like hurricane predictions.

I bet California has a larger carbon-footprint than all other 49 states combined.
