If the Olympics is even 1/2 the market of the super bowl this buy is worth about three minutes total.

Am I the only one who is creeped-out by this dude being a sponsor of the Olympic games? The guy has a creepy youth corps, plans to speak before the Victory Column in Germany, wants a mass rally in Denver, holds racist views, and now wants to tie himself to the Olympics. This dude gives me the willies.

I’ll watch the men’s basketball game but that’s about it.

Besides, this is NBC: home of those jackass libs Costas and Olbermann on NFL on NBC, MSNBC, etc, so it wasn;t a stretch that it would get approved by the libs at the PeaBrain Network.

Obama appearance: Berlin authorities say that as many as a million people could attend. Four TV stations are broadcasting the entire speech, and the rest are scrambling to secure prime locations at the site.

A man is a prophet except in his own home.

I’m just wondering if the world is big enough for the obamessiah.
He conquered Indonesia at the age of eight. Then he conquered the US senate for a few days.
Then he just conquered Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Jordan, Germany, and the rest of Europe in a few days.
Next he conquers the Chinese and the Olympics.
Then it’s the US presidency.
What’s left except the whole world perhaps a few months after he is crowned in January.

Obama is like a mediocre movie. No matter how extensive they market the movie, there's just a limit of how much money it makes in the box office before they pull it from the theaters.

I mistyped, they will be on EVERY NBC network. so, NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, USA, BRAVO and others. They are doing this to ensure that at any given time an event will be on the air.

It is going to fuel the idea that Obama is another JFK or Reagan who can command the respect and admiration of foreign countries and people. It gives him credibility that he can act Presidential and be on an equal footing with foreign leaders. It also doesn't hurt his claim that he can restore America's image abroad. The images are going to sway some of those on the fence and it will help galvanize Obama supporters to turn out in greater numbers. Elections are all about turnout.

There is no way McCain could replicate such an event abroad. Obama's handlers are running a much better campaign than McCain's. And the fawning MSM just make it that much worse for McCain.

Well, there you have it.

I’ll be skipping the Olympics for the first time ever. I did a paper on them as a kid and never looked back. However, there is no way I could watch them fearing an Obama ad popping up. We are saturated with them now which makes me watch less TV....I don’t think I could bear seeing a campaign ad during an event.

Bah. Oughtta be a law. Color me incredibly disappointed.

You guys are missing the point.

NBC has had a ton of trouble selling out their ad spots.

NBC has been the most biased of any network for Obama.

This is almost payback or “I’ll scratch your back if you scratch mine”.

Obama bails out NBC on advertising and NBC bails out Obama with favorable news coverage.

It used to be that at least American politicians paid lip service to the non-political (or is that trans-political?) goals of the Olympiad.

Cast that aside for the snobby narcissist.

As an aside, I really scratch my head at some of the anti-Olympic posts that always appear on this site... yes there are piece of crap events like ribbon gymnastics and ping-pong, but there are far more actual sports. NBC's coverage is pure crap, but why the aversion to the impressive athleticism of events like athletics/track & field, swimming, wrestling, basketball, and traditional gymnastics. Plus, there's women's beach volleyball.

General Patton was an Olympian. I think he'd have some harsh words for the ping-pongers as well as the more Neanderthal-like anti-Olympian types.

No, but the event was not staged to elicit German votes. They are stage props. The MSM will make sure that the American voter receives this powerful image, which will remind them of JFK and Reagan visits to Berlin. In point of fact, the crowds will be bigger for Obama than either JFK or Reagan. And Obama will put it into his campaign commercials all the way to the election.

Again, Obama's campaign staff is doing a better job than McCain's.

The previous chancellor won on a hate America ticket.

Merkle seems a different sort, but in my opinion it’s total jealousy of our way of life, our freedom, etc.

A relative lived for years in Germany and found the people quite satisfied with their lousy way of life. No effort required on their part.
