The family of an Orlando toddler missing for more than a month won't answer questions about a tip that a new concrete slab was poured in the grandparents' backyard over July 4 weekend, shortly before they reported the child missing.
Caylee Marie Anthony's grandmother would neither confirm nor deny the tip about the fresh concrete received by local WFTV Eyewitness News in Orlando, according to the station.

From what I have heard thus far, the grandparents are cooperating with the police. It may have been the police that asked them not to comment on this 'tip'.
Excerpt:
Detectives have said that almost nothing Casey Anthony has told them about her child’s disappearance has checked out to be true. They haven’t even been able to get information about the child’s father, who Anthony has said is dead, Orange County Det. Yuri Melich testified at her bond hearing on Tuesday.
Cindy Anthony has reportedly said little about Caylee’s dad, other than he was never married to Casey Anthony, had no involvement in Caylee’s life and died a few years ago in a traffic accident which the grandmother said she learned about in a local obituary, according to MyFOX Orlando.
Her attorney denies that his client has been lying to police and says she’s been cooperating. He and her family want her released so she can help in the search for the girl.
Baez told FOX News on Thursday that he has not found or seen any evidence of substance abuse by Casey Anthony and knows of no history of mental health problems.
Cindy Anthony declined to answer questions about whether her daughter was a “habitual liar,” as her friends have claimed, and said it doesn’t concern her that police suspect Casey might have done something to her granddaughter.
“My focus is on finding Caylee,” the weeping grandmother told FOX News. “Everyone believes she’s alive.”

Grandma you know she’s not alive ... .
I thought Grandma was acting a little strange with Gretta the other day on Fox News. She was getting rude with Gretta and refused to talk anymore. It was strange. You might be right that Grandma knows.
Who is the father? Don’t the paternal grandparents care?
I saw the "interview" with the Grandma on Greta's show on Fox. I think she is in this up to her eyeballs!
Could it be that the grandparents are covering for their mentally ill daughter’s manslaughter/murder of the little girl out of guilt that they didn’t do enough themselves to prevent it? Naaaahhhh.
She can help from right where she is. If she refuses to help, charge her with obstruction, maybe that will help clear her mind.
Who is the father? Dont the paternal grandparents care?
“Cindy Anthony has reportedly said little about Caylees dad, other than he was never married to Casey Anthony, had no involvement in Caylees life and died a few years ago in a traffic accident which the grandmother said she learned about in a local obituary, according to MyFOX Orlando.”
From link.
Too many lies ... and lack of information.
This is Faux News, after all...
Was the child a blonde?
Does the father drive a white Bronco?
“DEAD BLONDES, WHITE BRONCOS, OUR RATINGS ARE SAVED!!!”
Greta thanks you, peasants!
Before she was reported missing.
July 4 was shortly before she was reported missing, not actually went missing. That was back in early to mid June.
She was reported missing at that time, but had apparently been missing for a while before it was reported.
Naaaahhhh.
Why she is just a sweet, honest girl that has been unlucky. She is a victim. You are to feel sorry for her. Let her out of jail so life can go on for her. LOL!
Me too!
This is starting to sound like a very dark Southpark episode.
These people need to be honest. If that beautiful child is dead at the hands of her Mom, they need to own it.
This is getting sickening.
From what I have seen on Fox, the grandmother is a few fruit loops short. It is clear she knows more than she is telling. Even every usually lib expert on those shows has said they have no doubt they grandparents know exactly what happened.
Sadder to me is the family situation, which I hope is not typical. Divorced parents, young single mom who sometimes lives at home/sometimes disappears for days, questionable “friends” who hang out at the home, questionable brother, etc. So bizarre.
I just wish they would give some real answers.
Sounds like it’s time to bring out the bulldozer.
This may be one of those rare times when ‘waterboarding’ is called for! Like everyone here on FreeRepubic, I hope and pray that the child will be recovered, unharmed and intact. But everything about this case whispers homicide.
These people sure like the camera. Makes me suspicious.
I think she’s dead. If she is not, I’d be thrilled for the little girl. Either way, I want her found. If she’s dead, I want them to know exactly how she died. They’re stalling for time. This is all a smoke screen.
“Do me a favor,” she said. “Put a little piece of pizza or any piece of garbage in your car today and leave it shut up for 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 days in this heat and then come back to me in 19 days and tell me what it smells like.”
Why would anything have been in her trunk for that long? The only thing that could have been decomposing for that many days in her daughters trunk is the body of that baby. I think it’s a strange timeline for her to cite.
I hope it turns out different than it appears. I really do.
Grandma is acting more than just a little weird, IMHO! To stand there and insist that the smell the cadiver dogs hit on in the yard and truck of the car is spoiled food when experts say that isn’t possible? I sure hope that baby is found fine but I just really have a bad feeling that this isn’t going to turn out that way.
Yeah, I saw that show. Grandma’s very STRANGE! As the saying goes, the apples don’t fall far from the tree.
This is one strange case...I have been hoping that the little girl would somehow, by some miracle, be found alive, but I dont have the optimism any more....
Sure hope they can figure this whole thing out....
BS, the mother needs to come out and state why she never reported her child missing. I had 3 boys. I knew where they were at, until they could drive. This kid was not that age.
Ask Mom, where the hell is this little girl? Why the hell would you not report her missing unless you had something to do with it? Did you sell her, or did you KILL her lady?
I would keep this little female Drew Peterson in the slammer until she explains herself.
I thought it was the grandmother that alerted the police.
I think the grandparents are as loopy as the mother. Poor little girl is probably dead. Under circumstances, it’s rather amazing she survived as long as she did.
Translation: Grandma never knew who Caylee's father was, though she'd asked a few times. Eventually crazy Casey saw an obituary in the newspaper of a nice looking guy who'd just died in a traffic accident, and decided to put an end to Grandma's questions. "Oh my God, mom, look at this. This is Caylee's dad! He's dead!"
I haven’t been following this case in great detail, but from the several articles I’ve read, I don’t think I’ve seen any indication of any sane-sounding person corroborating the “fact” that Caylee ever existed. The mother and grandparents are such complete crackpots, that if there isn’t any solid evidence from another source that this child existed, I think the possibility needs to be considered that she never did. The handful of cute pictures could be from anywhere.
Grandma needs a new pair of shackles.
The article says shortly before the family reported her missing. The kid was missing for several weeks before the July 4th weekend.
That’s a very interesting point to bring up. The mother seems so bizzaro - leading the cops around Universal Studios for hours and then suddenly stopping and saying she doesn’t know where she is - creating a fake babysitter/apartment, etc. They all supposedly lived in the same house (grandparents and mom/daughter) and they never noticed the little girl was gone for a month??!!
Did anyone see the grandmother on Fox this morning? She looked completely wasted/high on something. It was horrible to see.
I don’t have access to TV on weekdays, so haven’t seen the grandma interviews, but just reading the quotes, I can tell she doesn’t have any better grip on reality than the mother. Today she’s saying — based on a few reported, but utterly unconfirmed sightings — that she “knows” where the person who has Caylee is headed with her, saying “It looks like theyre moving more northern into Georgia, toward the mountains.” It’s likely she’s plotting every “saw a child that might have been Caylee” report on a map, concluding they’re all real, connecting the dots, and figuring that a direction of travel has been established. The grandfather seems to be quieter, but from what little I’ve seen of his comments, he seems to be backing the grandmother’s incoherent version of events.
The authorities, needless to say, aren’t corroborating a word of this, and if they had information that they aren’t telling the public, they wouldn’t be telling it to the loony grandparents either. So first we’ve got the mother not reporting her missing toddler for over 5 weeks because she was “doing her own investigation”, and now we’ve got the grandmother rambling to the media about the results of HER investigation. Meanwhile back at the ranch, the police aren’t saying much of anything, other than that virtually nothing the mother has told them has checked out as true, and that the scent of decomposing human remains was detected in the trunk of the mother’s car.
I think they were living in the same house (or say they were) until around the time Caylee supposedly went missing. As in, maybe the mother said she and Caylee were moving out, and the grandparents believed it, and thought Caylee was now living somewhere else with her mother. But a neighbor reports that the mother came to borrow a shovel right around the time Caylee supposedly went missing.
Sheesh! Time to shoot “truth serum” into all three of them and have some serious Q&A. Polygraphs would be worth a try too, though might well yield nothing, since these people appear to be pathological liars and/or so loony they’re really unable to distinguish fact from fantasy.
Kid’s under the concrete slab.
Bust up the slab, find the body. Sad, but this is the most likely scenario.
UPDATE!
Missing Florida Girl's Grandmother Panicked Over ‘Dead Body’ Smell in 911 Call
Thursday, July 24, 2008
The grandmother of a 2-year-old Florida girl missing for more than a month told an emergency dispatcher last week that a car driven by the girl's mother smelled like there had been a dead body inside, according to recordings of 911 calls released Thursday.
That candid description by the grandmother, Cindy Anthony, was echoed this week by police, but Anthony later changed her story and disputed police testimony that the car's trunk smelled of decomposition

So much for the rotten pizza with mold on it.
The dogs didn't lie - Grandma lies again!
It;s no wonder her the daughter is a liar - so is the mother. Both are screwed up and Grandma is trying to clumsily cover for her daughter.
I think grandma has certainly figured it out and is now trying to play cover-up.
Be sure to listen to or read the transcript of her phone call to her mother's house.
"Nobody in my own family is on my side ... They just want Caylee back. That's all they're worried about right now is getting Caylee back and you know what, that's all I care about right now," she said.
Yes ...
All she is worred about is getting her boyfirend’s phone number. Imagine having a boyfriend and not even knowing his phone number!
Casey Anthony: “Because he is my boyfriend and I want to actually try and sit and talk to him because I didn’t get a chance to talk to him earlier. Because I got arrested on a (expletive) whim today and because they are blaming me for stuff that I would never do. That I didn’t do.”
Kristina: “Well, I’m on your side, you know that?”
Casey Anthony: “I know that, I just want to talk with Tony and get a little bit of ”
Her little girl is dead and SHE KNOWS IT!
